We are expecting dangerous heat next week. Please, be safe with your dogs — the heat index will be no joke, and it will be easy to push a dog into life-threatening illness.

The good news? We are OPEN for enrichment daycare Monday to Wednesday, and our building has air conditioning. If you want your dog to have a fun-filled day in a climate controlled building, we still have a few spots left each day. Shoot us a text or email for more information, or you can enroll online.

Remember we are REACTIVE DOG FRIENDLY for our day programs, so if your dog doesn’t appreciate other dogs in their space we can still accommodate them and make sure they have a great day.

Ernie did a 3 week puppy program a few months ago, and we used a ton of positive reinforcement to teach him how to walk nicely on a leash. Despite this, as he’s matured walking has become a struggle for his owners…. Because, beagle. He’s barking at other dogs on walks and walking has become a chore rather than a way to unwind.

Ernie boards with me regularly and his owners opt for daily training sessions each time. Now that he’s old enough, I introduced a prong collar into his walking repertoire. He just successfully passed three dogs on his walk without barking, and he’s still a happy little guy!

Why wouldn’t we introduce tools that makes life more enjoyable for us, if it means the dog gets to do more without the frustration that comes with struggling? Ernie’s world will get bigger as a result of thoughtful correction, not smaller. That’s what it is about for us — putting emotion aside for a moment and thinking big picture. Reliable training = more fun = happier dogs.

We want dog owners to feel good about their dogs progress. I think we’re well on the way there for Ernie and his family. 💕
