URGENT : Need Help From The Public
This morning at apx 1130am In Wellfleet
On Chequesset Neck Beach a group of children were swimming as part of summer camp when an incident occurred involving an white Husky type of dog was off leash walking the beach with its owners
The unleashed dog jumped into the water and swam towards The group of children causing injuries to 2 of the children that required treatment at a medical facility .
If anyone knows the owner(s) or has seen this dog please contact Welfleet / Eastham police animal control officer ,it is urgent to know if dog is current on rabies vaccination.Dog owners may not be aware of what happened .
The Dog was with man and woman ,male party was wearing red striped shirt

UPDATE : Fantastic news ,Hannah was found tired and exhausted , is home safe with family ,needing a bath ,food and some rest .

In partnership with the Eastham Recreation Department, the Eastham Police Department will offer our first ever youth summer camp, “Patrol Pals!” Children 7-12 years old are invited to join us for a week in August to meet their “Pals” at the police department, learn about our equipment, and much more! If interested, please use the link below to print a registration form and return it to the Eastham Recreation Department. The first 20 children will be registered and then a waitlist will be developed.

Our officers are super excited about this week and the opportunity to meet some of the youth in our community!

Watermelon, potato chips, cookies, and deli sandwiches--perfect for a picnic! But when left behind as scraps on the beach, these and other food items (including fruit pits and peels) can prove deadly for shorebirds. Human food attracts wildlife like fox, crow, coyote, and skunk onto the beach in unnaturally high numbers. In turn, these animals prey on nesting shorebirds and their young. They can also become habituated (accustomed to being around people) and grow assertive in attempts to get food. This poses a safety risk to people.

Please avoid dropping food on the beach, clean up around your area before leaving, and never feed wildlife.
