Yesterday, we lost two very special souls.
Spirit's beloved owner, Edward, passed away at the remarkable age of 95. Then, just today, Spirit was found peacefully resting on Edward's bed. Spirit was 15 years old.
While our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that we were blessed to spend the last couple of weeks with Spirit and were able to say our goodbyes to her last Thursday. It was as if she was waiting for one final visit before returning to the person she loved most.
The bond between a dog and their person is truly extraordinary. After 15 years of unconditional love, loyalty, and companionship, Spirit's journey has come full circle. We take peace in believing that Edward and Spirit are together once again.
Run free, sweet Spirit. ❤️
And rest peacefully, Edward. Your faithful friend has found her way back to you.

Life at BurnsBerg Kennels ❤️
Here at BurnsBerg Kennels, we believe dogs deserve to live like dogs. That's why our huskies enjoy 100% freedom—no crates, no cages, and no being confined for hours at a time. Our pack spends their days running, playing, exploring, and simply being part of the family.
What's funny is that even with all that freedom, many of them still choose to spend their time in our huge dog houses. They're cozy, safe, and comfortable places where they can relax, nap, or hang out with their best friends. The doors are always open, so they come and go whenever they please.
In this photo, Toggles, our beautiful agouti girl, and Maha, our stunning solid red girl, are tucked away together in one of their favorite spots. They could be anywhere on the 20 acres of our property, but they've chosen to relax side by side in the dog house, enjoying the comfort and companionship of one another.
That's the BurnsBerg way—freedom to choose, room to roam, and plenty of love every step of the way. 🐾❤️ Their dog houses aren't a place they have to be... they're a place they want to be.
