K-9 Stella ❤️

Stella is proof that hard work and dedication pay off.

Stella was born in 2020 during the COVID lockdowns, when proper socialization was difficult because of all the restrictions.

Most people used that as an excuse.

But not Stella… and not Trainer Joe.

At just 4 months old, Stella was already fully off leash trained.

By 9 months old, Stella became protection certified.

Think about that for a second.

In less than a year, this dog went from a young puppy during a global lockdown… to a highly trained working K-9.

🐕❄️ Dogs That Can Be Outside in the Snow for HOURS

-These breeds were literally built for winter conditions. Thick double coats, high cold tolerance, and metabolisms that thrive in freezing temps:

• Siberian Huskies
• Alaskan Malamutes
• Saint Bernards
• Bernese Mountain Dogs
• Great Pyrenees
• Newfoundlands
• Akitas
• Samoyeds

👉 These dogs can regulate their body temperature in extreme cold and often prefer being outside when it’s freezing.

🐕🥶 Dogs That SHOULD NOT Be Out in the Snow for Long Periods

-These breeds have thin coats, low body fat, or body structures that make them vulnerable to cold:

• Chihuahuas
• French Bulldogs
• Greyhounds
• Dachshunds
• Boxers
• Pit Bulls
• Boston Terriers
• Yorkshire Terriers

👉 Many of these dogs can begin to experience hypothermia in under 30 minutes depending on wind chill.

Boots & jackets are recommended even for short potty breaks!

Regardless of how easy or challenging the early puppy days are, it’s important to get serious about training your dog early. Training means creating a predictable, stimulating environment where there are consistent boundaries and expectations. Building this structure for your pup allows them to build their confidence, and their world, on top. Establish a basic obedience system and you’ll be blown away at how far it gets you!
