“Do we use E-collars?” Absolutely!

A common question we get at Strategic K-9 Training is about E-collars, and the answer is YES — but let’s clear something up. We don’t use them as “shock collars” we use them as effective communication tools, especially for off-leash training.

Think of it this way: Humans use cellphones to communicate over long distances — so why can’t humans and dogs have something similar?

If my dog is a distance away, why not have a tool like an “old-school pager” to send a light vibration (not a shock) to let my dog know I need them? It’s simple, clear, and humane.

Unfortunately, the dog training industry often paints E-collars in a negative light, claiming they’ll damage your relationship with your dog. But that’s completely false. With the right guidance from a professional trainer, an E-collar can be an incredibly effective tool.
