I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed in any way yesterday. Whether you donated plants or statues, helped design the layout, supervised, or got your hands dirty planting—your kindness and generosity transformed a simple patch of dirt into a beautiful memorial garden.

This garden honors a woman who dedicated countless years to helping shape the Grateful Paw Animal Shelter into what it is today. I have no doubt she was looking down yesterday, deeply moved by the love and effort that went into creating something so meaningful in her memory.

The memorial garden will not only keep her spirit alive but will also add lasting beauty to our shelter.

Thank you all, from the bottom of my heart.

Douglas was left in a carrier in Queens and a good Samaritan found him while she was walking home from her job at 1 o’clock in the morning.

We cannot begin to imagine what led to his abandonment. Douglas is a remarkably affectionate kitten. As soon as you enter the room, he comes directly to you, begging to be held and loved.

Douglas is approximately 4 months old and has semi-long white and grey hair.

You can meet Douglas at the:

❤️🐾❤️FELINE FRIDAY❤️🐾❤️

Our newest member to join us in the kitten room is three month old Buffy.

Buffy was rescued by John Debacker at an industrial park, next to a dumpster, in Deer Park. She was alone with no mom or siblings in sight.
Buffy is a tabby calico or tabico.
She loves being picked up and cuddled, but don’t you dare ignore her because she’ll climb up your legs, back and up onto your shoulders. She’ll climb up on anything to get to your level.
Even though she is petite, she is totally fearless. When you open the door, she bursts out at break neck speed.

Buffy has the sweetest face to go with her personality. She is very playful and took turns with the other kittens in her foster home using the exercise wheel.

You can meet Buffy at the:
Grateful Paw Cat Shelter

❤️🐾❤️HAPPY TAILS❤️🐾❤️

“Everything is ok. Oreo’s adjusted and seems very comfortable here. So far, so good. He also likes to play at times, but he doesn't play with any of his toys. He's good.

Oreo will just play with a string or objects like that, that are just hanging around, but I see he has a playful side too. He likes to have fun, so he seems and acts younger than I expected, which is good.😄

Oreo’s doing good, and I'm glad he is with me. His worst habit is that he is very talkative. 😊

Yes, also he likes outside. I don't let him out, but he insists that I open curtains so he can sit in windows and then he wants the window open so he can get air.. he likes to sit in the screened windows.”

Babe Ruthie, along with her four newborn kittens, was rescued by trapper John Debacker immediately after giving birth in the bleachers at Long Island Duck's Stadium.

Now that all of her kittens have been adopted, we are hoping for Babe Ruthie to find her own place to call home.

Babe Ruthie is around one years old with a sweet and gentle nature.
