Just a reminder to the people calling Tank's story a lie, here's the shooters confession.

Due to the death threats of not only to my family and myself and my livestock. I'm going to describe what happened that morning. After any self-defense action it is never a good idea to post anything on social media because it could be used against you in a court of law and that is why I have stayed quiet for as long as I can.I have had a long-standing issue with my neighbors and their dogs constantly coming over here and chasing and harassing and charging at both my children and myself over the last several years. I have done everything that I could just stop it. I have called the state police, the county sheriff and animal control several times after their dogs have come over here and pose a threat to both my kids and me and my livestock. I have even asked the Osborn's to please control their dogs. The Osborn's do not want to listen to any authority figure on this matter. Last winter I put up four lines of Barbwire fence from the road to over 500 feet back on The property line that we share. The particular dog in question since they have had it in their possession which according to the Osbournes was February of this year it has been in my yard over 40 times and those are the times I physically saw in my yard. Up until the day it charged me with its teeth barred, it had always ran away when I yelled at it to go home and get out of here. That morning I was attempting to give my wife's vehicle and oil change. I had just gotten on my back and get halfway under the vehicle to start draining the oil into the pan. I can hear the dog starting to come up my drive, I scramble out from under my wife's vehicle at this point the dog is approximately 30 feet away, I am just over 50 feet away from my house. I am now on my feet looking at the dog but is now less than 30 feet away and glaring at me and ignoring my commands to go home and get away. I keep facing it and I slowly start to back up toward my home. The whole time yelling at it, If you ask why I did not try to get into the vehicle it is because it was on ramps and the door opening was facing the dog and that was not an option. I take approximately two steps back and at that time the dog goes into a full charge with its head down and its teeth barred. At this point I cannot believe that this is happening everything that I have done to try to prevent this, talking to my neighbors, talking to the authorities so they could communicate to my neighbors the seriousness of my requests. I am just like everyone else and want to live a quiet peaceful life. When the dog was approximately 10 feet away I quickly pulled my weapon and I pointed and I pulled the trigger the whole time my eyes were looking at the eyes of the dog. You ask yourselves but the vet said he shot it in the back? In my handgun I use what's called self defense rounds this round does not act like a normal bullet. A normal bullet goes in small and comes out big. Self defense round goes in at the size of the round and then it starts to fall apart to create shrapnel and do the most damage as possible. And this is why the wound above the dogs Eye is almost a perfect circle because that is where the round went in and then as you can see it broke up and tore up after it entered. As soon as the dog was hit it, it whipped it's head to my left it's right and ran back to its owner out in the road and around the Barbwire fence. I am immediately called 911 to report that I had shot a dog and that I believed it to be my neighbors but I was not 100% sure. So I want to state right here and now that that wound above the dogs eye is the entry wound. The vet they took him to I'm sure is a good vet but he or she is not a ballistic professional, ballistic technician and probably not even familiar with self-defense rounds. The point is that vets opinion and that's exactly what it was an opinion was not based on any special training, he/she did not know the caliber or the type of round that was used so how could they make an accurate diagnosis. I have dogs of my own, I love dogs and pretty much all animals. I want all my neighbors to live a safe and quiet life the way they choose to live it. I want my neighbors dogs to live a very long and happy life. I am a responsible pet owner not one of my animals has ever been on my neighbors property. I do understand that dogs sometimes get out and if this was a situation I would never just shoot a dog to shoot it, that is animal cruelty that is not only illegal it is plain wrong. I'm sure some out there would ask why didn't you wait until after it bit you, and my answer to that is when something bites you, you may or may not be able to draw your weapon because of the pain and trauma being caused to your body. Some people also brought up the subject of warning shots, if I shot a warning shot then I guess I'm not in immediate danger am I? I also saw the question why are you carrying a gun around on your property? Up until my neighbors moved in I never even thought of having a handgun. But after month after month of their two previous dogs coming over and chasing and charging at my children I had no other choice. The Osborns weren't going to stop it, the police couldn't their hands are tied until somebody actually gets bit. And I'm on my property I have a right to walk around and be safe and not have to worry about a stray dog coming up and biting me aren't I? Because if my neighbors truly believed that I shot that dog in the back why weren't the police ever called back? Why is channel 3 news or some other news channel not been out here to interview me for the self defense act? Because I haven't been charged with animal cruelty or any other charge. Your guess is as good as mine I have no idea. I hope I have put all your questions to bed. I am not going to answer any questions I hope the statement answers those, I have already divulged way more then other people do after a self-defense act.
