For the past 10 years, Tail to Paw Animal Support has been dedicated to keeping pets where they belong—with the families who love them. Through pet food assistance, basic veterinary care, vaccinations, spay/neuter support, and case management, we’ve helped hundreds of families keep their beloved companions at home.

Behind every nonprofit is a group of people trying their hardest with the resources they have. We will continue fighting for animals and families — we just need people to understand that sometimes the answer has to be ‘not right now.’ 🐾

Today marks 56 days since we’ve had to place our assistance applications on hold due to limited funding.

This isn’t the update we ever wanted to share, but it’s the honest one.

We’re not closing our doors, and we’re not giving up. We’re working every day to secure the funding needed so we can reopen and continue helping families keep the pets they love at home—where they belong.

One question that stays on our minds is:

What if we invested more in keeping families together before they reached the point of surrender?

Shelters and rescues do incredible work, but prevention matters too. Sometimes a little help with pet food or basic medical care is all it takes to keep an animal out of the shelter system.

If you believe in preventing owner surrenders and keeping pets with the families who love them, we’d be honored to have your support. Every donation helps move us one step closer to reopening applications.

Please read below. Share and reach out to BARC if you know someone. She would do best in a household with no other pets and with a women only. That would be her ideal. She deserves the chance to live her best life. Please share. There is a home out there for her. Sharing this post we can help find it for her. Thank you.

A very serious and FINAL plea from BARC CT:

Day 6.

Another person applied, got approved, then backed out when the exact information that’s stated in the post was repeated in conversation. It’s be comical if not for the severity of the situation.

Unfortunately this Yara is declining rapidly because she has no place to go and she’s essentially living in bathroom and crying for help as the very kindhearted person caring for her is truly doing the best she can for as long as possible. But there comes a time when it’s actually cruel and inhumane.

We are now approaching that time.

We have begged for many weeks, trying to explain there are some dogs who cannot function in this kind of setting.

Why? Because “rescuing” is not where the job ends. If the dog is now forced to survive in a situation equal to the one it came from—while well-intentioned—it’s still cruel.

This is final call for Yara. Please apply today. Yara’s adoption fee will be reduced/voided IF the right forever home is located.

Adopters can be in any of the nearby states.

We are not permitted to adopt a dog through our organization to anyone but a homeowner. If this offends you, please apply to other organizations that do not have a restriction.

We are Not permitted to adopt to homes with minors. This would also terrify Yara. Do not apply if you have a minor living in your home (a minor is anyone under 18)

Yara is terrified of MEN. It’s a pretty simple concept. Apply only if you have no MEN living in your home. If men or strangers come to your home, you put your dog away in her crate (also a simple concept). If this doesn’t work for you please do not apply. You are not a miracle worker or shape shifter. You will not “cure” Yara with “compassion” and a treat. Please read and believe the information we are sharing about the dog.

Yara is housebroken, walks well and enjoys playing outside or with various toys and ball.

Yara does not do well with cats. Please do not apply or inquire if you have cats. This is a very clear and concise instruction.

Yara is unsure of other dogs but has shown signs that she will be okay with another dog after two weeks of decompression and time to adjust to a real life post-rescue.
This is a very clear and concise instruction. If you feel like this will require more attention and patience than you’re willing to give to a little dog, please do not apply.

Yara is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped.

Once Yara feels safe, she’s a doll and a little shadow and wants to be around her female owner as much as possible. She will flourish if given the opportunity.

There’s just a few days left for Yara and further boarding or cage-bouncing to avoid reality is not an option. Thank you.
