We want to inform the entire Horse Community that we are currently managing a case of Strangles. While this is never easy for anyone to share, we value transparency and horse health over all else.
We chose to report this case to the State Vet & EDCC ourselves so that everyone has the correct information.
This horse was brought into our facility on Tuesday May 13th, 2025 from a local sales facility. Our Vet arrived the afternoon of Monday May 19th, 2025 to give routine vaccines, and the horse began to present with a temperature and a slightly runny nose. At that time, it was decided that the horse be placed on broad spectrum antibiotics and put it into isolation immediately. These were the ONLY symptoms this horse had presented that day.
We were informed by our Local Vet on Thursday, May 22nd that the horse had a confirmed Strangles case. Since confirmation of the diagnosis, the horse is stable with no more symptoms and remains in isolation.
From the moment symptoms were identified, we immediately implemented strict biosecurity protocols under veterinary guidance at the farm, including:
-Isolating the single affected horse away from the rest
-Monitoring all horses for symptoms
-FULLY stopped movement in and out of the facility of equines
-Disinfecting all equipment and common areas
-Twice daily temperature checks and health monitoring
-Informed all personnel, service providers, and ship in clients that arrived to the farm after this horses arrival
-Implemented a safety plan moving forward with all necessary service providers
At this time, we are closed to outside horses and visitors until further notice, and we are working daily with our veterinary team (State and Local) to monitor and manage the situation safely and responsibly.
The EDCC reported that we are in Montgomery County, which is not accurate. Rosewood Equestrian Center is located in Lehigh County, but we understand we are close to several farms and want every surrounding area to be aware.
We did have horses entered at the Devon Horse Show, but thankfully this happened prior to the show and we responsibly scratched the show entirely.
As of this morning, Wednesday May 28th 2025, we still have ZERO symptoms in the facility.
We understand this is concerning, but please rest assured—we are doing everything possible to contain the situation and protect every horse in our care and community. This is a long process for all involved, and please have faith that we want to be out of this faster than anyone else does.

Thank you for your understanding, trust, and continued support.
