With a Nor’easter heading our way, now’s the time to make sure your barn horses and other animals are safe and ready for heavy rain, strong winds, and possible power outages. Here’s a quick checklist to get ahead of the storm:
✅ Secure the barn – Check all doors, windows, and latches. Close up drafts but make sure there’s still ventilation.
💧 Stock up on essentials – Have extra feed, hay, and fresh water ready in case of power loss or flooding.
🔋 Prep your power – Charge lamps and battery packs, fuel your generator, and know how to run it safely.
🐴 Horse care – Keep halters and lead ropes easily accessible. Bring horses in early if winds pick up.
🚜 Outside items – Move wheelbarrows, buckets, and loose tools inside so they don’t become flying debris.
📱 Stay informed – Keep your phone charged and follow local weather alerts for updates.
