Terri’s journey started in the most heartbreaking way. She was found alone and pregnant in a cemetery in Texas, scared and unsure of who to trust. After being rescued, she was brought to The Haven Animal Care Shelter, where she was finally safe. But safety didn’t erase the fear. It took months of patience from the staff for Terri to let her guard down, and when she did, her sweet, playful personality shone through. She was one of the gentlest dogs they’d ever known.

A tiny dog, barely 10 pounds, was carried into a Missouri shelter wrapped in what looked like a heavy shell. But that shell wasn't armor. It was matted fur so thick and painful it had become a prison. Beneath it, she was hiding something even worse—an infestation so severe the rescue described her as being eaten alive.

Her name is Wooly.

When the team at Stray Rescue of St. Louis began carefully shaving away the mats, they found inflamed, infected skin underneath. Her body had been fighting for so long, all on her own. But here's the thing about rescue—it doesn't wait for a dog to be ready. It just shows up with gentle hands and a whispered promise that the worst is over.
