It's Dog Anxiety Awareness Week!
This week focuses on canine mental health! It’s important for owners to recognize symptoms of anxiety in their dog. Some things to look out for may include:
-Destructive Behavior: Chewing, digging, or destroying things
-Physical Signs: Excessive drooling, panting, or trembling
-Behavioral Changes: Excessive barking, howling, or whining
-Restlessness: Pacing, inability to settle, or compulsive behaviors
-House Accidents: Urinating or defecating indoors despite being housetrained

It’s important to create a safe space for your dog to feel comfortable. Dogs thrive on predictability, so keeping a consistent routine is also key. Dogs need exercise and enrichment, make sure your dog gets enough physical and mental activity daily, as this can release energy and reduce stress. You may need to consult with your veterinarian for behavioral advice, or to discuss mediations or supplements your pet may need to help with their anxiety.

It's National Walk Your Pet Month! Walking your pet is a great way to stay active and spend quality time with your pet! Here are some tips and helpful information to make your walks safe and fun!
• Use a sturdy 4-6 foot leash with a well fitting collar or harness. Avoid retractable leashes, as they provide less control.
• Practice voice commands like "sit", "stay", and "come" before walks to maintain control in stimulating environments.
• After walks, check your pet for cuts, debris or signs of fleas or ticks.
• Wear reflective gear and use lights for both you and your dog to improve visibility to drivers during early morning or late evening walks.
• Be cautious of distance and trerrain with elderly pets or those with joint issues.

Winter brings chilly walks and cozy moments. Our pets can feel the cold more than we realize and it can be tough on them, especially their paws. A few simple precautions can help keep them safe and comfortable all season long.

Here are key winter tips to keep in mind:

❄ Avoid ice melt when possible: Some de-icers can be harsh on paw pads and may cause irritation.
🐾 Wipe paws after every walk: This removes residue and helps prevent licking of harmful substances.
💧 Use a pet safe balm: Applying a thin layer before and after walks can help moisturize and protect paw pads.
❄ Watch for early signs of hypothermia: Shivering, slowing down, whining, or lifting paws off the ground can all signal that your pet is too cold.
🐾 Help small dogs stay comfortable: Tiny dogs lose heat quickly. Keep walks shorter when temperatures drop and dry them off thoroughly when you return inside.
❄Choose the right coat: Short haired, senior, or small breed dogs often benefit from a warm, well fitted jacket during outdoor time.

We are here to help keep your pets comfortable all winter long. If you ever notice redness, limping, or cracked skin, or have questions about winter safety or your pet’s comfort, give us a call!

Keep Decorations Pet Safe!
Holiday decorating is fun, but some items can be tempting or risky for curious pets. A few small precautions can help keep your home festive and safe.

Here are decorations to watch closely:
✨ Tinsel: Cats especially love to bat at it, but swallowing tinsel can cause serious intestinal issues.
🔔 Ornaments: Broken ornaments can lead to cuts, while soft ornaments may be accidentally swallowed.
🔌 Wires and lights: Chewing on wires can cause burns or shocks. Keep cords tucked away or covered.

Choosing durable, pet safe décor and placing delicate items higher up can make a big difference in keeping your home safe for both pets and people this season.

If you ever have questions about holiday safety, we are here to help.
