Yay! It’s finally summer, which means it’s finally time for us to start up our summer doggy training group classes! {long post, feel free to scroll to the end for pricing!}
This year we are donating 20% of all proceeds from group classes to our service dog training programs. So for every student who signs up for a group class you will not only be setting you and your four legged friend up for a lifetime of success but also helping our service dog and handler teams raise the money needed for their highly trained lifesaving dogs! It’s a win win!! {for more information on the teams in our program or to join our program please feel free to check out our page Home Sweet Home Training or message me directly! We will be posting photos and personal stories about our teams in training over the coming weeks}
When you sign up for one of our group classes we set up a one on one consolation with you and your pup to get a good idea of what you are looking to get out of training. After your consultation you can immediately join the next upcoming class and get started right away or wait a few weeks to start when you are ready. Our classes are open enrollment and rotate through the summer and fall so there is no need to worry about setting aside 8 full weeks of your summer. If you have a vacation, a sick kid, or simply don’t feel up to training you can easily make up any missed lessons during the next rotation! You will also get lifetime access to any of the classes you have completed so if you need a follow up on a specific lesson to really get things down you can repeat the lesson as many times as needed and you will have access to message our trainers directly with any questions, concerns, or issues that pop up in between classes.
Group classes are a great way for you and your dog to learn fundamental and advanced skills in a fun, easy going social setting. Most group classes are geared towards teaching the dogs how to do the skill or behavior during class which is great, except it can lead to dogs who only know how to behave in group class and frustrated owners who don’t know how to take those skills and transfer them to new situations. In our group classes our trainers focus less on teaching the dog the new behaviors and more on teaching the owners the necessary skills to not only be able to teach the desired skill or behavior to their dog but to also know how to confidently take what they have learned and adjust the training to fit all different situations. Training the dog is the easy part, you could give most trainers 10 minutes alone with almost any dog and teach them any number of complicated tricks but the key to real success in the home and when out and about with the family is taking the extra time to really focus on teaching you and helping you gain confidence in your ability to manage any situation that may come up!
