It’s been a BUSY time getting ready for an our upcoming transport so we haven’t posted much this weekend, but we had to make a little time for something fun! 📦🐾

We got to unbox some of the goodies from Birdie and her puppies’ wishlist! 🥰 Every package is a little reminder of just how loved this sweet family is.

Thank you to everyone who has donated and continues to support Birdie and her babies. If you’d like to send an item from their wishlist, it’ll be updated and linked in the comments. We appreciate you more than you know! ❤️🐶

🐾 $5 FOOD & FUEL FRIDAY! ⛽️🐾

It takes a LOT to keep these transports moving — and it doesn’t stop with getting dogs from point A to point B. ❤️

This Friday, we’re asking our Tails in Transit family to throw $5 toward Food & Fuel to help us:

🐾 Supply our southern volunteers with dry dog and cat food & necessities for their ongoing stray efforts (cat food bags $20 | dog food bags ~$27)
⛽️ Help cover fuel for our Iowa volunteers making the trip next weekend
📦 Stock up on supplies needed to bring along on transport
🐶 Support the everyday necessities, such as vet care and health certificates that are required for these trips

$5 may not seem like much, but when our community comes together, those $5 donations add up QUICKLY.

If you’re able to chip in today, we’d be incredibly grateful. Every dollar helps us keep saying YES to the dogs who need us. 🐾❤️

📋 REQUESTING HELP WITH AN ANIMAL? PLEASE READ!

We truly want to help as many animals as we possibly can, but when you reach out to Tails In Transit with an intake request, we need some basic information up front. This saves both you and our team time and allows us to determine whether or not we may be able to help.

When requesting help, please provide:

🐾 Location — Where is the animal currently located?
🐾 Animal — Dog, cat, puppy, kitten, etc.
🐾 How many? — Please include the number of animals needing help.
🐾 Approximate age — Even a guess is helpful.
🐾 What’s going on? — Why does the animal need rescue? Is there an injury, illness, or other urgent concern?
🐾 Photos/videos — If possible, please include current photos.
🐾 Are you asking us to take ownership/surrender the animal? If so, please tell us why the animal is being surrendered and provide any known medical or behavioral history.
🐾 Foster help — Are you willing to foster the animal?

🛑 Failure to provide all information above may result in no response at this time, so please read above.👆

PLEASE UNDERSTAND: Sending us an intake request does NOT guarantee that we can take the animal.

We are a foster-based rescue, which means we cannot take an animal without a foster placement. If you are asking us to help, you must either be willing to foster the animal yourself or be willing to safely hold the animal until we can locate a foster.

We know emergencies happen, and we will always do our best to help where we can. ❤️ But the more information you provide from the beginning, the better we can determine what options may be available.

Thank you for understanding and helping us make the process more efficient for everyone—especially the animals who need us. 🐾

❤️ BOARD MEMBER SPOTLIGHT: HALEY R ❤️

We’re so excited to officially introduce Haley and share a little more about everything she is taking on with Tails in Transit!

Haley joined us a couple of months ago as our Preventative Coordinator, helping manage preventative medications for the dogs in our care. Now, she is adding another important role to her plate as our Grant Writer! 🐾

Grant writing is such an important piece of keeping a rescue moving forward. Finding and applying for funding opportunities will help us continue covering medical care, supplies, transport costs, and all of the other expenses that come with saying “yes” to animals in need. We are incredibly grateful to have Haley willing to take on this responsibility and help us continue growing our mission.

When asked why she wanted to get involved with Tails in Transit, Haley said:

“I love what Tails in Transit stands for and I love animals. I want to be able to help as many dogs as I can find their forever home. ❤️”

Haley has a special love for helping and training dogs and getting to see just how much they can learn and improve in such a short amount of time. She loves how resilient animals are and how much love they have to give the people who care for them.

She also comes to us with fundraising experience! During college, Haley was part of Dance Marathon and served on the fundraising committee for two years, where she learned just how important fundraising and sharing an organization’s mission can be.

And rescue definitely fits right into Haley’s life. She and her fiancé have four dogs of their own: Gracie and Gus, their Golden Retrievers, Val, their Mastiff, and Charlotte, their Great Dane. Thankfully, their crew also loves welcoming all of their foster brothers and sisters! 🥰

One of Haley’s favorite animal memories is adopting Charlotte. She came all the way from Virginia, and Haley remembers sitting in the backyard crying with her for hours because she was so excited to finally have her home. They had always said three dogs was the maximum…but apparently Charlotte had other plans. 😂❤️

Haley says, “I’m so excited to be a part of the rescue. I had been wanting to foster for a while, and I am so happy I found Tails in Transit. I have had an incredible time so far being involved and helping out the pups. It is such a rewarding experience, and I can’t wait for what is ahead!”

We are so happy to have Haley on our team and incredibly thankful for everything she is already doing for the animals in our care. Please help us welcome Haley and congratulate her on adding Grant Writer to her role with Tails in Transit! 🧨

🛑 Red Is STILL Waiting 🛑

Have we forgotten about Red?

Absolutely not.

But here’s the hard part: our rescue still has to keep moving. We are contacted daily, multiple times, saying yes a handful of times while saying NO more than we ever want to. There are dogs being dumped, injured, abandoned, and sitting in shelters who need us. We can’t put everything on hold while we wait for the perfect home for Red.

Right now, Red cannot live with other animals, which makes finding her forever home or a foster home even harder. But she also cannot live at the boarding facility forever.

Sooner or later, something has to give. This isn’t fair to her!!

So we’re asking you—not just to share this post, but to help us find a solution for Red.

Could you be her person?
Know someone who could be?
Have a legitimate lead, foster option, or idea we haven’t thought of?

Tell us. Comment. Share. Tag someone. Start the conversation.

Because while we continue saving the next dog, Red is still waiting for someone to really save her. 🥺

We haven’t forgotten you, Red. Not for a second.
