Missing Manes

Missing Manes "Remembering the horses that have touched our hearts." Brenda Vynalek started to add horse tail hair Each weaving is custom made to order.

Over the past few years, I have made pillows and framed pieces, for people who, like me, were looking for that special something, to preserve that "piece" of memory. The weavings use tail and mane hair that has been clipped from the owner's current horses, so those horses are "missing" some mane. Others are from horse tail hair that was taken when the owner's horse passed away, hence, "missing" th

eir horses mane. I am also, snipping a few strands here and there from some very special and lucky rescue horses. These woven pieces, when sold, will come with information regarding the horses, and the rescue organization, part of the proceeds will go directly to the rescue.

" My Childhood Horse"
By Karen L. G. Eisenlord
April "24

A young girl and her horse
how we raced with the wind!
No harness or saddle did we require --
just fur to blue-jean skin.
You read my mind, and I yours,
an unspoken language we understood.
Pictures of communication, emotions of adoration,
like a flowing stream unbroken.

With a longing for the untamed, a flower child --
for all that is committed but wild,
our energy merged in a union unequaled
and, together, with Nature,
our ruby centers beguiled

It’s decades now, you are away,
but how can I not remember you?
Your continuous devotion, my beloved one.
If it is so that we get what
we pray for in the Promised Land,
you are on the top of my list
my dear, my sweet, my treasured friend!

Run Free sweet pony, you are very missed.

This is why I do what I do. My heart ❤️ is full. Last month a lovely family, mom, dad, teenage boy and young girl, brought me their beloved horse's mane and tail hair. Each carrying their own treasured bag of hair close to their hearts.
The teenage boy was first to pick out what he wanted made. He definitely knew he wanted a necklace. We chatted, I looked at the hair and then told him that I could make a necklace with the black tail hair, but could not use the white mane hair, due to its length. His eyes looked down, then to his Mom, pleading, then down to the hair again. I could tell, that having both colors of his Warrior was absolutely needed. I took a deep breath and reassured him, that I would try my best and make it it work, his eyes lit up again, and that sealed the deal, I was gonna make it work, no matter how long it took me to figure it out.
Then the young girl was next, she was touching and stroking the mini horseshoe tassel sample all this time. That was what she wanted. I asked her favorite color, she said turquoise, and she wanted a feather just like the sample. Her smile was contagious when her mom and dad said yes, and when I told her I could do just that for her. Mom then asked for a tassel, with silver heart and turquoise blue.
I finished the items last week, and got to meet them in person to hand then each their treasured keepsake. The boys eyes were so full of awe and love when he saw the necklace, his Warrior boy forever on his neck, both the black and white. The look in his eyes, made it all worth while. The young girls eyes lit up like Christmas morning seeing her Warrior's hair braided and dressed up in silver and turquoise. The mom looking so happy that their hearts 💕 were a little more healed, and that all of them now had their special keepsake to hold Warrior close.
That is why I do what I do, the look in those children's faces, and seeing the power of holding something special from their beloved horse.
That horse is one special horse, and will live on forever in their hearts and memories.
Run Free Warrior, may you guide and watch over your family until you are reunited once again. ❤️🐎❤️

Missing Manes will be at the Connecticut Draft Horse Rescue Anniversary Open House this Saturday May 17th 11-3 in East Hampton CT.
Bring any tail hair that you may have and pick out items, colors, charms or frames, and meet Brenda Case Vynalek, the owner and creator at Missing Manes.
We look forward to helping you design your very own forever keepsake.

Oh, my heart.
I do this work out of the love of the horses and the people who love them.
This picture symbolizes that sentiment.
The hole represents the loss, the Angel wings of a new Angel forever watching over and guiding from above. I see grief in this photo, but I also see hope and healing, but mostly, I see great love, that lasts forever, not matter the form.
Run free sweet Levi

Learn to make your very own horse hair beaded bracelet! Brenda Case Vynalek, owner and creator of Missing Manes will be teaching this all day workshop on June 1st, 10-4. At Shoreline Framing, in Westbrook, CT. Light lunch and beverages included! 🥗🍛☕️🥛
We will begin class by learning a little history of memorial hair braiding, and then learn the proper way to clean, prepare, and store your beloved horse's tail. We will then dive into washing and drying hair and onto the fun part of picking out bead colors and design. 🤗 Then the work begins of dividing the hairs, setting them up into "pulls" and braiding. We usually take a lunch break at this point, and finish the workshop with beading and putting on the caps and clasps at the end.
Everyone will go home with a beautiful forever keepsake. 💕
Take a look at the pictures in the comments 👇 to see some examples from past classes.
Workshop is 125/per person. Includes, lunch, snacks, beverages, and all supplies. (If you do not have any tail hair, Brenda will have some available to use)
To register please send a private message directly to Missing Manes. Class is limited to 10 participants.
This class is designed to not only help you make your very own keepsake, but also gets you going if you would want to continue making them for friends or even as a business.

In pastures green I once did roam, With you, my heart had found its home. Through fields of gold, we’d race the wind, In every stride, a joy unskinned.

With mane aflow, my hooves would pound, Each beat a song, a heart’s resound. Your gentle touch, a whispered love, A bond so tight, no force could shove.

But now, the skies call out my name, A rainbow bridge, aflame with flame. I fear not the journey far, For in my soul, you are the star.

Across this bridge of hues so bright, I trot with courage, hearts alight. Though tears may fall as I depart, Forever, you’ll dwell within my heart.

And when you gaze upon the skies, Seek not sorrows in your cries. For in the heaven’s vast embrace, I gallop in eternal grace.

So, hold our memories close and dear, Feel my nuzzle, ever near. In whispers of the wind’s soft sigh, I am not gone, I did not die.

Together still, in spirit’s seam, In every sunbeam’s gentle gleam. For love, my owner, transcends time, In every age, in every clime.
