With the big day less than 48 hours away, we're bringing you some more Thanksgiving-themed Food 411 for your pets!
Today, let's talk turkey! Turkey is generally a safe food for your pup with a few important caveats:
🍗Remove all skin and gristly parts. Excessive fat found in these parts can cause pancreatitis and spices and seasonings can cause upset stomach. Remember, garlic and onion can be toxic to dogs!)
🦴Turkey bones are NOT safe for your pets! They can splinter and puncture their esophagus or throat, they can obstruct the airway in the throat, and they can cause blockages in the intestine that could require surgery.
🥪Home-cooked turkey and deli meat turkey are NOT the same thing! Deli meat is often very high in sodium and is therefore not recommended for your pets.
Wishing you a safe and happy Thanksgiving week!
