Just because a child is excited to say hello doesn’t mean every dog will feel comfortable being touched.

Teaching kids to pause, ask first, and respect a “not right now” helps keep both children and dogs safe. Some dogs may be nervous, training, resting, or simply prefer their personal space—and that is okay.
