Lead Off Leash K9 Training

Lead Off Leash K9 Training TWC Certified Trainer. www.leadoffleashk9training.com My name is Cheryl Albrecht-Harvey. I treat each dog on a case-by-case basis.

Dog trainer specializing in off-leash obedience that works with all dogs: from puppies to adult dogs with more challenging issues like dog aggression, human aggression, or extreme fear based issues. I started Lead Off leash K9 Training to teach dog owners how to create a more balanced and happy four-legged family member through play, obedience and off-leash freedom. I am passionate about dogs, and

equally passionate about helping people have a more harmonious relationship with their pup. I have been working with dogs all of my life and have been practicing professionally since 2014. I am very active in continuing education because I believe in furthering my dog training experience so that I keep refining and improving my skillset, as well as to remain up to date on the most effective and fair dog training techniques. I am a certified professional dog trainer from the Training Without Conflict program, which was created by world-renowned trainer, Ivan Balabanov. I will work with any dog - from the happy-go-lucky-pup to dogs that struggle with separation anxiety, dog aggression and/or human aggression. My home facility is licensed by the Pet Animal Care Facilities Act (PACFA) Program, which is a licensing and inspection program dedicated to protecting the health and well-being of those animals in pet care facilities throughout Colorado. I practice balanced dog training, meaning I use both reinforcement and punishment (as scientific aspects of Operant Conditioning) as well as Classical Conditioning to create a very effective and fair communication system to train and rehabilitate dogs. I will decide which tools to use with your dog once I understand what he/she needs and discuss my plan with you before the training begins. Each training program is tailored to each dogs behavioral issues. I work with all breeds and temperaments and I address a wide range of issues from basic obedience to severe anxiety and even dog and human aggression. I am happy to discuss my methods and tools with you. My goal for you as a client is to help create a lifelong harmonious relationship between you and your dog. I also want to foster a long lasting connection with you and be available in the future should you need more assistance.

SANCHO and MILTON - the Littles - to the Animas River trail. Good boys

ARGOS, GRUNER, SUNNY and REBEL: all off leash, out with me working on a few things - "drop" w the retrievers, and some play between Rebel and Sunny and then a bit of "come" and "sit" for all of them.
Pay Attention::
Firm voice for needing authority (drop, nope).
Excited voice for movement (come, break, yes, let's go)
Calm voice for non-movement (stay, good)

MILTON in retrieve:
"Yes!" is the release word to let him know that he can go get the ball. BUT!....sometimes I say "yes!" and THEN throw the ball and sometimes I throw the ball and THEN say "yes!" Why, you may wonder? If I am TEACHING him what the word "yes" means (remember it is the release word) then I will say it and THEN throw the ball. If he already knows what "yes" means (as the release word), then I will up the criteria and in this video we are practicing his stay (and impulse control) by saying "yes", AFTER I throw the ball.
I personally think that this video contains a lot of interesting information in it if you are super curious about training and cleaning up your dogs obedience. In this session I am primarily working on his down and stay (drop, sit, eye contact, nope are also being used). I also discussed how your words, timing, and body language influence your communication with your dog – something most people aren't even aware they're doing.
So lots of important tips in the vid, especially towards the end, so keep watching if you are a curious dog trainer/owner who wants to keep improving your communication with your dog.

DAISY, FRANKLIN and RED GOOSE- off leash hike at the Colorado Trail. Once again, a lot of important information for the owners to listen to. Also, these are the first dogs in this go-round of board and trains that will be heading home soon, so they are further along than the newbies.... therefore valuable thoughts for ALL of the dog owners to listen to.

SANCHO - learning to be comfortable with lots of crazy play with the other dogs (as he likes to luinge and bark at other dogs); working on a little obedience with him; and making him understand that he still is not allowed to compete with me in retrieve (even if the other dogs are around making it feel more competetive). Also teaching MILTON it is not his turn to be the star player - It is Sancho's turn. Good boys!

MILTON - working with him within the structure of possession play (aka tug). Milton loves this best! Making sure that the "drop" is fast and clean as this gives his owner a lot of authority - something that is needed in teir relationship. Good boy, Milton!

REBEL - Recalling her off of deer - a lifelong habit that is now becoming no more. Good girl!
