A crate gives your dog a safe, familiar space wherever you go.

Crate training can reduce stress and prevent destructive behavior, especially during travel.

Start crate training early, ideally during puppyhood, and use positive reinforcement—never force it.

Dogs and cats are more prone to dehydration in the heat, especially after walks, playtime, or even lounging outdoors.

As a rule of thumb, pets need about 1 oz of water per pound of body weight per day, and even more when it's hot.

If you notice these signs, call us right away!

During summer, sidewalks and asphalt can reach dangerously high temperatures that may burn paw pads in seconds.

Try this test: Place the back of your hand on the pavement for 7 seconds. If it’s too hot for you, it’s too hot for your pet.

Morning and evening walks are safest—and don’t forget grassy paths, booties, or protective wax!

Pets can get lost in an instant. Identification tags help, but microchips offer permanent protection. This tiny chip can be scanned at shelters or vet offices to help reunite you with your pet.

If you’ve recently welcomed a new pet, be sure they’re microchipped—and if you're not sure, just ask us at your next visit. We’re happy to check and answer any questions!

At first we thought Piper was shy. Piper is not shy- she is a party girl and lots of fun. Before transport to The ARK, she was in a short-term foster. In that environment, Piper was also with other dogs. Piper's life used to be a life of being tied to a tether. Freedom feels different now. A fenced yard is encouraged for this active ball of energy. Can you match her excitement?

Hi Friends! February is Dental Health Month! This month is dedicated to bringing awareness about oral hygiene, and the need to keep the mouths of all our friends (furry and otherwise) clean. It's easy to focus on the bigger stuff when our pets get sick, but the truth is that preventative care goes a long way. For example, proper brushing, regular dental cleanings from the vet, and a good diet can help reduce the risks of bacteria buildup, tooth decay, and periodontal disease. Keeping good oral health hygiene can help maintain overall health, too!

For the month of February, the Peoria Area Veterinary Group is hosting Dental Health Month. If you schedule your pet's dental cleaning during this month, we'll take $25 off. This is a great opportunity to take advantage of our special offer and keep your pet's mouth healthy. We recommend scheduling your dental cleaning as soon as possible.
