Once Upon a Mischief Rattery

Welcome to Once Upon a Mischief Rattery! We are a Fancy Rat Breeder located in Western New York state. Dwarfs & Standard Sizes. Standard coats & Harley.

We focus on healthy beautiful rats with amazing temperaments! Our main focus is Dumbo Siamese, though we also breed Black, Minks, Russian Blues, & Silvermane (D'Argent). Unmarked & Markings of Variegated, Berkshire and Irish. We do not have a wait list, but instead an open approved adopter list. Reservations for rats are first come first serve to approved adopters.

This morning 11-23-25, while my husband and I were at work our house caught fire.

Not only did we lose our house but we lost all of our pets - dogs, cats, bunny, chinchilla, and of course the rats.

They managed to save one kitty by rescuing her and putting her on oxygen. We had to take her to the emergency vet in Orchard Park and the bills are quite high while they keep her on oxygen and fluids overnight.

If anyone can help with a donation or just keeping her in your thoughts and prayers I'd be thankful!

Fun fact - rats are one of the few mammals where only the females have ni***es!

It makes sexing at a young age before their coats get fluffy very easy!

Our passion is color points, with a focus on Dumbo Siamese, in Standard Size and Dwarf. We breed several different lines and varieties though, including:

Black, Russian Blue, Blue, Russian Silver Burmese, Sable Burmese Tonkinese Black Eyed Siamese Marten Spotted Tabby (Marble) D’Argent (Silvermane) BEW Roan Frost Variegated, Blaze, Self/Unmarked, Irish Standard Coat, Harleys, Velveteen and Harley-Velveteen Dwarfs & Standard Size

Almost all of our rats are Dumbo eared, but we do sometimes have standard ear.
