Dumas Animal Shelter Dog adoptions are $100, cat adoptions are $75. The price includes a discount to get them fixed. Adoption fees:

This fee includes a discount for sterilization and a microchip. This fee includes a discount for sterilization. To adopt from us, you must pre-pay for a rabies shot with a veterinarian and show us a receipt. The Texas Health and Safety Code under Title 10 and chapter 828 states that all dogs and cats adopted from an animal shelter must be sterilized within 30 days. Owner surrender fees:

ender fees are $50 per pet or $100 for a litter. This must be paid at the police department prior to taking the animals to the shelter. Reclaim fees:
There is a $20 impound fee and we charge $6 a day.
1 day is $26, 2 days is $32, and so on. You must bring proof that your pet is up-to-date on their rabies shot or pre-pay for one and show us the receipt. If there is no one at the shelter during business hours, please contact Moore County Dispatch at 806 935 2151. They will let an ACO know you're there

Abandonment is illegal—no matter where you leave an animal. And even if its not your animal and you found it.
Under Texas law, abandoning an animal means leaving an animal in your custody without making reasonable arrangements for another person to assume responsibility. It doesn't matter if it's a roadside, a parking lot, a rescue's property, a veterinarian's office, or anywhere else. If you leave an animal without ensuring proper transfer of custody, you are committing a criminal offense.
Pets are not disposable. If you take responsibility for an animal, you remain responsible until that animal is safely and legally placed in someone else's care.
