Virginia Dog Training

Virginia Dog Training A dog training system without correction, only direction. We look forward to meeting your companions. (Sit, Place, Stay, Heel, & Recall.)

At Virginia Dog Training we pride ourselves in a training system strictly based on direction & not correction. We believe all dogs are good dogs with the correct guidance. Attention and confidence are the main tools we use to turn around un wanted behaviors,(Barking,Destructive behavior, People & Dog aggression, Cage aggression, Jumping, Pulling, etc.) We will work on your dogs overall body awaren

ess, leash training, and basic commands. After your dogs training we will do lessons to show you how to control your new & improved companion. Having a trained dog is a lifetime responsibility that you will have to continually work on with your dog but is more than worth it, and will bring comfort & happiness to you and your family.

Paws For Life.

Archie and Scout have been crushing their training with me for a while now, so today we switched things up with an outdoor WATER DAY to beat the heat! 🐾
Even during fun days like this, we stay focused on controlled play, engagement, and trust-building — because a well-trained dog is a happy, confident one! 🎯
Remember: hot days are perfect for cooling off, but it’s just as important to stay diligent, be mindful, and have fun the right way. 💪
Training never has to be boring — just ask Archie and Scout! 🐶❤️🔥

🎉 Welcome Back, Scout! 🎉

We’re thrilled to have Miss Scout back in training with us—this time, we’re trading in the basics for some next-level trick training! Scout’s already got a great foundation from our past sessions, and now she’s back and ready to level up with some fun, high-energy moves!

This week, we’re working on:
✨ “Through the Hula!” — our custom hoop jump (because why just walk when you can fly through a rainbow ring of glory?!)
🛏 “You’re Done!” — our signature take on the classic play dead (Scout’s dramatic flair really shines in this one 😉)

Scout is a total goofball in the best way—she’s enthusiastic, a little bouncy, and absolutely loves to work for her treats. 🍖💃 We’re keeping things 100% positive, 100% fun, and 1000% treat-powered. No corrections here—just energy, encouragement, and a whole lot of cheering!

Stay tuned as Scout shows off her new skills and reminds us all that training should be just as fun for the dog as it is for the trainer. 🎬🐾

Everyone watch Ms. Hazel go off leash on the treadmill for the first time!

Treadmill training will save you so much time when training a “heel” command or just to walk beside you at all times. If you have any questions or would like me to show you the steps you can message me and we can work together!

Congratulations to Ms. Lily on Her Graduation!

Lily joined our program to build her confidence and work on a few challenging behaviors—such as leash pulling, difficulty staying when told, and always needing to be front and center. Though she was a bit shy at first, in just two weeks, she has transformed into a star pupil!

Lily now enjoys off-leash freedom, responds to recalls with ease, and demonstrates patience beyond expectations—outshining even dogs with years of training. While we’ll certainly miss her, we’re thrilled for her to return home and show off her new skills.

This is the kind of success you can expect from our two-week board & train program. If you’re ready to see what your dog is capable of, I’m here to help!

Transforming Behavior: Ms. Roxie’s Training Journey

Meet Ms. Roxie, an 8-month-old German Shepherd who has been training with us over the past two weeks. She’s a stunning dog with a ton of potential, but like many working breeds, she faced some challenges with attention and focus.

In this video, we’re showcasing the “place” command, a vital tool for working dogs. Breeds like German Shepherds thrive when they have a job or clear direction. Without proper structure, they may resort to undesirable behaviors such as chewing or biting. Commands like this provide them with purpose and help prevent destructive tendencies while building a stronger bond with their handler.

I’m thrilled to announce that I’m back to full-time training! If you or someone you know is interested in an evaluation lesson or a comprehensive board-and-train program, feel free to reach out. You can contact me at (276) 639-1661 or message me directly through my personal account, Logan Rasnic. Let’s work together to bring out the best in your dog!
