Today we are looking at guinea pig lice, featuring some incredible microscope photos captured by a wonderful resourceful owner using their child’s microscope. 🔬

While these pests are highly contagious between guinea pigs and can cause severe itching and hair loss, they are completely species-specific. This means they are harmless to humans and cannot be passed to your cats or dogs.

If your piggy catches them, please avoid over-the-counter remedies they can be dangerous to piggies. Safe recovery requires a prescription topical parasiticide from a veterinarian.
