I love what I do and this dog is a perfect example of why. Rain, owned by Misty Erwin, most recently won the ranch class at the 3 Shy Cattledog Trial (her 3rd trial). She was 2nd in the nursery class back in December at the No Frills Newyears Trail (her 2nd competition). And her first outing was last fall at the Southwest Cattledog Association futurity where she made the championship round and finished in 5th place. An unruly ball of black fur that came to my clinic last spring has manifested into a great friendship with Misty and one hell of a dog with Rain!

I love this dog! Big, powerful, smooth, and stylish. Gus penned 140 head of these fresh yearlings by himself Monday, all while getting to show off for the camera. Gus has proven himself both in the trial competitions, winning several Open events already, as well as being able to handle all classes of livestock in the ranch world. Gus is one of the most confident dogs I have ever seen. At 4 years old, his oldest pups are following in his footsteps, and more young prospects on the way. He is standing to approved outside females.

Let’s start the year off with some fun…we have decided to do a “waffle” for this nice pup. There will be 20 spots available at 🔟0️⃣ each. Proceeds will go toward the 2025 SWCDA futurity and finals and the 3 Shy Cowboy Classic. “Toes” is a big friendly ABCA male 5.5 months old. Hooked up on stock and broke to the leash. Another fun weekend in the books! Greenville Tx “No Frills New Years Cattledog Trial” was a blast. The dogs worked great with several go round places. Gus finished 2nd in the open average while Rain and June finished 2nd and 4th in the nursery average. The highlight of the weekend however was the youth class where Logan and Spicy came home with another buckle and average win!

What an amazing past couple weeks! It started last Friday in Sulphur Springs at Leighton Stevens Cattledog trial. Spicy won the very challenging “Double Lift” Open Jackpot class, Gus finished 2nd in the Open average and Rose (owned by Randy Boon) was 2nd in the ranch and nursery classes. One of the funnest trials I have been to….but the best part was bringing the whole family with me and Logan won the youth class with Spicy!! Thank you Leighton!
Two days later we started the Rodear America national finals. Finishing up the top 5 short go yesterday Spicy came out on top as this years Open National Rodear Finals Champion. Rose also made the top 5 finishing 3rd in the greendog. I couldn’t be happier with how all the dogs worked and am very thankful to accomplish what we did again an amazingly talented group of dog handlers.
