Lola is home with her babies. There are 3 black females, 1 black male, 3 chocolate males, and 1 chocolate female. There was a 9th puppy, a perfectly formed black male, that was stuck in the birth canal and didn't make it. 💔 Total was 10 puppies when you include the stillborn firstborn.

I will call all families waiting to hear from me about all three litters later this week. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Lola also required an emergency spay. A dog's uterus has two horns, and one of hers was severely compromised, bruised, and not getting good blood supply. I'm very thankful I listened to my gut and took her right in.

Update #1: We are now at the emergency vet for a possible c-section. Puppy #2 is stuck in the birth canal.

Update #2: Lola is in surgery for a c-section to deliver the puppies. One is definitely stuck and created a huge road block. Praying the rest are alive and thriving once they have been delivered.

There's never a dull moment here at TPL. Lola has decided to evict Baron's bundle of joy early. She was due on Friday. Her belly can only be described as rotund, and we are imagining quite a few beautiful black and chocolate puppies will be making there appearance today. Thankful for a daytime delivery. Sadly, the first puppy was stillborn, and not fully developed. I'll post updates as live puppies are born.

Update #2
The barium appears to have lubricated things well in Selah's intestinal tract. X-rays show it has moved through to the colon. They have started offering her food, and as long as she continues to tolerate it without nausea and vomiting, she will get to come home later this morning. No blockage. No surgery! Prayers answered! Praise!

Update #1:
Selah is being keep overnight for a barium swallow study, IV fluids, anti-nausea medications, and pain medications. Her blood work looked very good. The X-rays looked suspicious for a blockage, but not an opaque object that shows up. The barium will either give us an answer to go ahead with surgery, or it may lubricate things so she passes whatever is there. Praying that it lubricates things!

Please keep our sweet first time Mama, Selah, in your prayers. She's not keeping food or water down and has me very concerned.

Puppies are being watched over by Mama Poppy, and rest assured we are actually rotating the litters into the incubator every two hours for feedings so she's not as overwhelmed as the picture looks.
