Archer, our newest fox red stud from Ag Labs in the UK, watched over all of the TPL Something to Buzz About litter, and got some sweet belly rubs from his new best friend. He saw Dr. Collins for the first time, had his yearly check up, and received his 3 year rabies vaccine. Sweet puppies were checked from nose to tail and received their first vaccination, and everyone got a clean bill of health.

Four of these little bees are fluffy! Nectar, Skep, Queen, and Scout all have long coats like their daddy, Baron. The four black males all have standard coats. The long coat gene gives them an improved coat: thicker and less prone to heavy shedding.

🐝Buzz Worthy Bee Fact:
Honeybees have a dance move called the ‘waggle dance’. It’s not actually a dance move at all, rather a clever way of communicating between themselves to tell their nestmates where to go to find the best source of food. It took the researchers at Sussex University two years to decode the waggle dance.

After honeybees, bumble bees are the most well-known group of bees. There are approximately 50 bumble bee species found across North America. Like honeybees, but unlike most other native bee species, bumble bees form hives. In early spring, queen bumble bees emerge from the ground where they spent the winter months dormant and seek out an old rodent burrow, a hole in a fallen log, or even an empty birdhouse to start their hive. In addition to pollinating wild plants, bumble bees are also commercially important, contributing to the pollination of crops such as tomatoes and alfalfa.

TPL Whisper of the Wind, Aspen (retired) loves running free in the snow at 8200 ft. elevation at the Buckhorn ranger station in CO. She has also discovered prairie dogs, and cattle guards. Her Forever Foster mama, Carolyn, says, "She is such a great traveling companion!"

Aspen now travels the US with Carolyn working with Historicorps. She is loved by the staff and other volunteers. But most importantly, she provides Carolyn companionship and peace of mind while camping along the way.
