Hi All -
Wanted to let you know that I’m back on the Island. Some health issues kept us from coming up this spring and winter.
Unfortunately due to Covid, we feel the safest way to care for your pets is to limit the practice to Islanders, not Tourists.
We can provide the following services. All vaccines for both dogs and cats. Diagnostics, Wound management, illnesses, ears, flea and tick management, medications, calling in prescriptions (only if I have seen your pet), some labs.
Several ways to reach out - phones 906-493-5948 and 616-915-7124 or Email [email protected]. We can’t guarantee these will work(poor Internet and phone services) may have to reach out on all of them!
We wanted to Thank Paul Gratowski and the employees at the Hardware! Paul was able to help so many by retrieving(no pun intended) medications and reaching out to me on behalf of many of you. Unfortunately, we’ve lost track of money owed to DI Animal Clinic. If you owe money please mail a check to us at - 26003 E. Fraser Road DI MI., if not sure of the amount please reach out to us and we’ll let you know, it will help to cover expenses. As you know everything has increased in prices, more then likely some of these meds so don’t be surprised.
It’s been such a pleasure helping you and your pets! Dr. Bennett and Debbie

On October 1st 2020, I closed the Drummond Island Animal Clinic. I am continuing the practice with Drummond Island Animal Clinic House Call Services. I will provide most of the same services as I did at the Clinic. I am capable of seeing and treating Most Medical Cases and some Emergency’s. I will still be able to do vaccines, blood draws and lab work. I will provide a lab service for urine, heartworm checks and stool samples here on Drummond. I’ll be using the same outside lab service for more complex blood work, and biopsy’s. Surgeries will be referred as well as X-Rays and ultrasounds. I will still be considered the referring Vet, so I’ll be able to have direct contact access to all the information too. I’ll be carrying most medications but can also call in prescriptions. Unfortunately, most on-line pharmacy services are very time consuming and therefore I will charge $10.00 for those prescriptions.
I am excited to still see you and your pet(s) in the comfort of your home. To set up an appointment please call (906)493-5948 or (616)915-7124, or message me through Facebook or e-mail @ [email protected]
Thank you.

Great Horned Owl Update! Good news! The owl has been transported to the Wildlife Rehab Center Ltd. in Grand Rapids Saturday. It ate 7 mice and is doing well overall. Some backstory: a couple days before the rescue Dr. Bennett and others heard a murder of crows, a group of crows is called a murder, in the area where the owl was rescued. Crows and owls are mortal enemies. Crows will attack owls while they sleep during the day and owls will attack crows at night while they nest. Dr. Bennett believes that this owl was attacked by crows during the day and broke its wing trying to defend itself. That’s the backstory. We’ll have more updates as we get them. Stay tuned!

A new Owl saga is upon us. Today, Paul Gratowski was at his barn when he saw this beautiful Great Horned Owl on the ground unable to fly. He called Dr. Bennett to come check it out. Dr. Bennett, with the help of Mitch Brummel, was able to secure it. "It was a fast runner." - Dr. Bennett & Mitch. Upon examination, the owl has a broken wing. Dr. Bennett was able to tape the wing to the side of the bird. The owl will be transported to the Wildlife Rehab Center Ltd., the same folks who took in the Snowy Owl last December, on Saturday. We'll have updates as they come in.
