🕷️ Common Ticks Found in Our Area 🕷️

Several species of ticks are common in Northwest Tennessee, including:

• Lone Star Tick
• American Dog Tick
• Brown Dog Tick
• Black-Legged Tick (Deer Tick)

Ticks like to hide around:
• Ears
• Between toes
• Under collars
• Around tails and skin folds

Many tick bites go unnoticed at first — which is why prevention is so important.

🐾 Flea & tick prevention helps protect your pets from more than just itching.
‼️️During May, annual visits with a heartworm test include a FREE month dose of Credelio Quattro, which not only covers heartworms, but ticks&fleas as well. ‼️

🕷️This week we are talking about ticks&fleas🕷️

Ticks can spread several dangerous diseases to pets — and many are found right here in Northwest Tennessee.

Some common tick-borne diseases include:
• Lyme disease
• Ehrlichiosis
• Rocky Mountain spotted fever
• Anaplasmosis

Ticks are commonly found in:
🌿 Tall grass
🌳 Wooded areas
🏡 Backyards
🚶 Walking trails

Prevention is the best protection against tick-borne disease.

Check your pets regularly and keep them on year-round prevention.

🦟 How Do Pets Get Heartworms? 🦟

Many people think pets only get heartworms from dirty environments — but that’s not true.

Heartworms are spread through mosquito bites.

When a mosquito bites an infected animal, it can carry microscopic heartworm larvae. When that mosquito bites another pet, the larvae are transmitted into the bloodstream.

That means:

Indoor pets can still get heartworms
One mosquito bite is all it takes
Heartworm prevention is needed year-round

Mosquitoes are common in Northwest Tennessee, making prevention especially important.

🐶🐱 Schedule your annual exam and heartworm test this May to receive a FREE month of Credelio Quattro.

❤️ What Is Heartworm Disease? ❤️

Heartworm disease is a serious and potentially life-threatening illness caused by worms that live in the heart, lungs, and blood vessels of infected pets.

Heartworms can:

-Cause coughing and fatigue
-Lead to weight loss
-Damage the heart and lungs
-Become life-threatening if left untreated

Dogs are especially at risk, but cats can also be affected.

The good news? Heartworm disease is preventable.

Regular testing and monthly prevention are the best ways to protect your pet.

🐾 As Veterinary Receptionist Week comes to an end, we want to give one final, heartfelt thank you to the incredible women who keep our clinic running day in and day out.

From answering phones and scheduling appointments to comforting worried pet parents and loving on your fur babies, our receptionists do so much more than most people ever see.

They are the smiling faces that greet you, the calm voices during stressful moments, and the hardworking hearts behind the scenes that help make every day possible.

This week, we’ve had the honor of celebrating just a few of the many reasons we are so thankful for them—but our appreciation goes far beyond one week.

To our amazing reception team: thank you for your kindness, patience, dedication, and all the little things you do that make such a big difference. We are incredibly lucky to have you. 💕

Please help us give them one last round of applause in the comments! 👏🐾

🌟 Veterinary Receptionist Week Spotlight 🌟

Today we’re shining a light on Megan 💙

Although Megan has only been with us since November, she has already made such a wonderful impact on our team. We have truly loved having her as part of our clinic family!

Megan is kind, positive, and soft-spoken, bringing a calm and welcoming presence to everyone she meets. She’s our creative spirit—the artsy one who adds a special touch to everything she does. And let’s not forget her style… she somehow makes scrubs look as cute and put-together as possible every single day ✨

She is dedicated, hardworking, and committed to doing her very best in every task. Along with helping at the front desk, Megan also lends a hand in the kennel, helping care for your fur babies with the same kindness and attention.

Megan is always friendly, approachable, and makes everyone feel right at home from the moment they walk in.

Outside of work, she enjoys reading, playing video games, and spending time with her husband and their own little “zoo” of 3 dogs and 4 cats 🐾

We are so grateful to have her on our team!

Thank you, Megan, for being such a lovely and valued part of our clinic! 💕
