The two silver cockerels from GypsyHen Poultry are finally starting to get along with the main flock and are now able to free range. It's crazy how much they will change over the next couple of months.

Testing out growing turkeys this year. This is a bird that I really don't care for but I do like to eat, so we'll see if this is a one-and-done thing or if I start raising these annually. So far, they've been taking the brutal heat like little champs.

I have 7 4-week-old Bresse-Marans chicks. These have been free-ranging from day 1 and can be put straight into a new coop without adult birds.

I have several Bresse-Marans chicks up to 1 week old, and one Bresse-Ameraucana. There will be additional chicks hatching for another two weeks. If kept with other chicks in an outdoor brooder, a heating plate is not necessary right now.

Heat tolerant.

There's a thousand dollars worth of spays/neuters in this photo if I use my regular vet. I have two additional female cats that also need to be spayed not pictured.

If anyone is interested in one of the baby kitties, I will be raising them until 12 weeks and we can do adoption-for-spay (you pick up kitten and pay vet). They will be raised in home with multiple cats and dogs and handled daily.

Open to working with a rescue who may know adopters or have a better process in place.

I'm keeping the adults but am asking for help or a referral to someone who can do more economical spays. If they can do the kitties too, that would be wonderful.

Total: 2 male kittens, 2 female kittens, 3 adult females

The overwinter chicks are here!

This year I'm doing barred rocks and golden sexlinks.

My overwinter birds are kept all summer and winter and sold at the start of lay in February, if they do not get added to the egg flocks.

Summetime barnyards are arriving! The white color of these chicks tells me my American Bresse is doing his job -- now if only the Bresse pullets would start laying, that'd be super.
