This Memorial Day weekend, we want you to enjoy every moment with your family โ fur babies included! ๐พ As your trusted emergency and specialty care team, we're sharing a few important reminders to help keep your pets safe through all the festivities. Because a happy holiday for you means a safe one for them.

โค Fireworks & Anxiety โ Fireworks may light up the sky, but they can send your pets into a panic. Keep them indoors, close the windows, and create a safe quiet space for them to retreat to. If your pet suffers from severe anxiety, call your vet ahead of time about options.
โค BBQ & Food Dangers โ Those puppy dog eyes are hard to resist at the grill, but Memorial Day BBQ foods can be seriously dangerous for pets. Corn cobs, onions, grapes, chocolate, xylitol, and cooked bones are all major hazards โ keep the feast for the humans!
โคHeat & Hydration โ Our pets feel every degree of the summer heat. Never leave your pet in a parked car, keep fresh water available at all times, and watch for signs of heatstroke like excessive panting, drooling, or lethargy.
โคWater Safety โ Not all dogs are natural swimmers. If your pup is joining you poolside or at the lake, consider a life vest and never leave them unattended near water.
โคLost & Escaped Pets โ With doors opening and closing for guests and cookouts, Memorial Day is one of the most common times for pets to slip out unnoticed. Make sure ID tags are current, microchips are registered, and pets are secured before the party starts.
From all of us at EPIC Specialty & Emergency Pet Care โ have a safe, beautiful holiday weekend. And remember, if you need us, we are always here. Open 24/7, today and every day!
