It’s been a bit since we made a post. It was a long weekend.
We dealt with an episode of colic in one of our very own. Blue Jean the blind POA. He’s doing ok!!! He’s in a stall being monitored daily for a little bit.
We said our farewells to OnThree and Mini girl Sunday morning. ☀️ Rest in peace loved ones ♥️
On Three was our old senior here, she was bossy and full of s***k. Unfortunately the move she made to us took a toll. Second home she’s ever been, new people, place, diet. We were hopeful she would make it through winter but as the weather began to turn she couldn’t keep up. It was her time to cross over the 🌈 bridge. 😢 I will miss seeing her everyday. RIP THREE.
MINI Girl was an animal control rescue we made last summer. Poor girl has been through hell and back. We got her to a manageable weight but could not correct her shoulder displacement. As time went on she began to shuffle her front feet and moved less and less as time went on. We managed for a while with pain medication but at 24 as a pony her quality of life became more important. She went with her pasture buddy Sunday and laid down with Three. RIP Mini Girl, your resilience and willingness to let me in after what you went through will always be in my heart. 💜
Needless to say it’s been emotional and a bit crazy around here. Keep these two in your thoughts as they lay down to sleep.
Please keep in mind that we don’t always have time to call previous owners when things happen, they happen so fast and we will not let equines suffer in pain. Surrendering your equine means you’re giving us ALL RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITY. WE WILL ALWAYS DO WHATS BEST FOR THEM. Hind sight transferring Three wasn’t the best decision we made. She would have been less stressed at her age but, we tried to help the best we knew how. It’s never easy to say Goodbye but, sometimes it’s necessary for the well being of the equine.
With this, we will no longer be taking in senior equines for sanctuary care. To many people throw away their equines to rescues and say they will help with costs and put on a show, cry, check in for a week or two then they disappear off the face of the earth…….same story over and over. Too many people act like they care and never check in, too many people have opinions on what they want done with them once in our care but, seem to forget whose fitting the bill and who chose to help them when you couldn’t. ✌️ 🐴
🚨 Please stop shoving equines off on someone else and do the right thing!
