NovaStar Rescue To educate, advocate, rescue and rehabilitate. NovaStar Rescue is a small nonprofit rescue located in Dover Arkansas. This is our purpose and mission.

Our main focus is to advocate , educate, rescue and rehabilitate Bully Breeds with a special emphasis on the pitbull. We believe Pitties are the most loyal yet most misunderstood dogs. Whether they come from off the streets or out of the shelters, every Pittie deserves a chance at a good home where they will be loved and cherished as a family member.

It’s a mystery, really.
Not the fun kind with clues and tea…
The kind that leaves you staring at the door, wondering why it never opened again.

Sherlock and Watson, our scruffy little detectives, had their forever. Case closed. Happily ever after.

Until it wasn’t. 💔

Their owner passed away… and instead of being tucked into loving arms, these two boys were put out to wander the streets like a story no one wanted to finish.

But here’s the thing about Sherlock & Watson…
They didn’t run away from love.

They came back.

Back to the rescue.
Back to the only place that still felt like someone might care.

(Yes, we cried. You will too. It’s fine. 😭)

🧸 Watson (the sidekick with main-character energy)
Sweet, gentle, and currently tackling heartworm treatment like the brave little champ he is. Today’s a big day for him. He didn’t deserve any of this… but he’s still wagging his tail like hope isn’t lost.

🎩 Sherlock (the fluffier thinker of the duo)
Equally sweet, equally confused, and probably still trying to solve the mystery of “why did we get left behind?”

Together?
They’re soft, loving, a little goofy, and very much still believing their people are out there somewhere.

💔 Let’s be honest for a second…
They’ve already lived through the part of the story that breaks hearts.

Now they deserve the chapter where someone says:
“Not this time. You’re staying.”

There are some dogs who pass through a rescue… and then there are the ones who become the rescue.

Molly is the latter.

Our Molly. The one who rides shotgun on vet runs like she’s got a clipboard and a schedule to keep. The one who shows up for transports as if she personally hired us all. The one who insists on sitting in the driver’s seat, watching the road, watching her people… making sure everyone gets where they need to go.

If you’ve ever met us out and about, you’ve met her.
Miss Molly.
Marching to her own rhythm. Greeting some of you like long-lost friends, politely snubbing others like a queen with places to be. Always curious. Always watching. Always there.

She isn’t just “one of the dogs.”

She’s part of the heartbeat behind everything we do.

And right now… that heartbeat is hurting.

Molly has been diagnosed with tumors on her tonsil and gum.

At just 5 ½ years old, this is not the chapter we were supposed to be in. This isn’t the ending she deserves, and we are not ready to even whisper the word “goodbye.” Not now. Not when she still has so much life left to live, so many rides to supervise, so many people to judge from the front seat.

But saving her… it isn’t simple.
And it isn’t cheap.

We are asking—no, pleading—for help.

Not just for a rescue dog… but for our dog.
For the one who has stood beside us through countless saves.
For the one who has been part of so many second chances.

Now she needs hers.

Where's our OEB lovers?! This very sweet friendly girl has found herself in need of a new home after her owner passed away and no family was available to take her in.

She is 4 years old. She is heartworm negative. Spayed. Up to date on vaccines and prevention. House trained. Gets along with dogs and humans. She is a bit pudgy....😊, so will need a little diet to get her girlish figure back!

This week's $5 FRIDAY is all for our heartworm positive Stars!! We had three treated this week and we still have so many waiting. Each treatment is between $350 and $500 per dog.

We need to get these babies the treatment they need to be healthy and find their new homes! Please help if you can.

Hoss and Little Joe, our beagle boys, both tested positive yesterday at their neuter appointment. They are such young boys we were not expecting that news. 😢 If you would like to sponsor one of these sweet boys, they would be very grateful!

🐾✨ One year. 365 days. Countless “maybe next times.” ✨🐾

While puppies come and go like confetti in the wind, two incredible souls have been quietly waiting… watching… hoping.

Meet Nikka and Jameson — the life of the party that somehow never got invited to go home. 💔

🎀 Nikka (female)
Nikka is that friend who walks into a room and instantly makes everything brighter. Outgoing, friendly, and ready to be your shadow-in-the-best-way.

Toys? Her absolute love language. Forget snacks… she said, “throw the toy and we’ll talk.” 🎾

She’s got the manners, too:
✔ Walks beautifully on a leash
✔ Knows how to sit like a proper lady
✔ Gets along great with other dogs

She’s the full package… just waiting for someone to notice.

If joy had a mascot, it would be Jameson. This boy is pure, unfiltered happiness with paws.

He doesn’t just play with toys… he performs with them. Tossing them, shaking them, launching them into the air like he’s putting on a one-dog circus. 🎪🐕

Underneath all that goofiness?
The sweetest, most loving heart. He soaks up affection like sunshine.

Let’s talk about Icee for a minute 💕

Icee came to NovaStar after a traumatic birthing experience that required an emergency C-section. Sadly, she lost two of her babies… but her strength carried her through, and she raised three happy, healthy pups who have all found their furever homes.

Now it’s her turn. 🐾

Icee is an American Bully mix, around 2 years old, with a personality that keeps you smiling. She’s fun, a little wild in the best way, and full of life. She absolutely loves playing with other dogs and does great with kids, too.

She’s not big on toys, but give her some space to run and she’s in her element, zoomies, bouncing, and pure joy. And when she’s done? She’s just as happy to settle down and snooze рядом her people.

Icee has been through so much, and she deserves a home where she can finally just be someone’s baby.

🐾THE STORY OF ARGUS AND RUFUS.🐾

Last June 2025, we were called to a cemetery in London Arkansas, about a mom and 6 little pups dumped. We found them and gathered them all up and brought back to the rescue. They were cute as could be and LOTS of ppl wanted a puppy with the beautiful green eyes! Months went by and 4 pups and Mom found homes.

Sadly, Rufus and Argus have never been adopted, never fostered, never been picked for a Doggy Day Out. Their days are spent in a 10x10 pen. The sweetest, gentlest, goofiest boys. Their only fault being they are big and not cute puppies any more.

So my question is why do people overlook these beautiful sweet boys and most importantly, how long do I hold them prisoners in a pen, two sweet innocent boys. How long is long enough??

If you truly want to save a life, please come out and meet these precious boys and free them from the pen! They won't be condemned forever.

Pittie Palooza Sunday! People have been filling up our inbox with inquiries and apps for the pittie puppies we've taken in this last couple months. Good news for our pittie loving friends is, we have more!!

First up, there's Roger, the tiny but adorable 12-week-old, 10-pound bundle of joy. Just a cute sweet pittie mix boy looking for his own family to love!

Then, we've got Atlas and Harley, the dynamic duo of gentle, sweet, 12- to 15-month-old boys. These boys are so cute and so much fun. They are both stout boys and at a year old they aren't done growing quite yet! If you are looking for a stunningly handsome boy, Atlas and Harley definitely fit that bill!!

Next, meet Gracie and Wrigley, the four-month-old siblings with the most stunning peepers and a stout build that'll make them gorgeous grown dogs.

And if you're looking for something a little more mature, we've got plenty of young, teenage, and adult pitties waiting to be your new BFF. They're all fully vetted and ready to find their forever homes!

All the STARS are wishing and hoping they get to go on an outing today!! DOGGY DAY OUT is happening all day today until 4 pm!! Please come out and take a cute pup on an adventure. A pup cup, a hike, a stroll downtown, whatever you feel like, our pups are ready for it!!

We provide everything you need - Leashes, collars, treats. You just show up and the staff will help you pick a dog!!
