Today, we want to thank Ashley Weaver and her family for an incredibly generous donation of dog food in honor of Clayton’s birthday.

Clayton volunteered with us when we first moved to Dover, sharing his time and his love for animals with NovaStar. He unexpectedly passed away this past spring, and his family chose to celebrate his birthday by helping the dogs he cared so much about.

They visited the rescue yesterday and spent some time sharing memories of Clayton with us. We are so honored that they thought of NovaStar and allowed us to be a small part of remembering him.

Ashley and family, thank you for this beautiful gift in Clayton’s honor. We’re grateful for your kindness and for the chance to remember him alongside you. His love for animals continues to make a difference here.

Today is Clayton’s birthday and we hope you will all join us and thank his family and cover them in so much love as they celebrate his life today 🫶🏼

🫶🏼THANK YOU🫶🏼

Yesterday, an anonymous donor made a payment toward our account at Dr. Parker’s office.

Our veterinary bill has been a significant one, and this thoughtful gift means so much to us. ❤️

To the person behind this generous donation:

We may not know your name, but we hope you see this and know how deeply grateful we are. Your kindness helps us continue caring for the animals who need us and eases some of the worry that comes with that responsibility.

Thank you for quietly showing up for NovaStar and our animals.

Your generosity is appreciated more than you could ever imagine. 🐾

⭐️ UPDATE #2⭐️
The 8th pup has been caught!! Rotisserie chicken to the rescue!! 😂

⭐️UPDATE⭐️
Today we were able to trap #7 (picture in comments) and we have seen #8 and we will start trapping it tomorrow. We will update pictures of them soon…. We’re just so short handed right now and sooooo much to do!!!

They range in age from about 1yo to 6ish… you can tell the 2 female have been pumping out puppies (probably for profit) for many years. One is currently in heat and both will be getting spayed ASAP. They are all sooooooo sweet.

————————————-

Well....our Tuesday just took a sharp turn. We were notified (more than once) about several dogs appearing to have been dumped on 333 (imagine that), close to Norman Road. So of course, like we do....our staff took off with wet food, leashes and crates. Our VERY SHORTHANDED STAFF I might add. They have spent over an hour now. And what started as 4 went to 5 or 6 and then EIGHT!! EIGHT TINY DOGS DUMPED ON THIS HIGHWAY OUT HERE.

We are still not able to catch them all but we have a trap coming. But this is so discouraging. My workers have to take time from their overloaded day. Our "getting the numbers down" just went to hell. 🙁

All these dogs are one big nasty matted mess. We have already dropped our blades off at the sharpener because we already know what our afternoon looks like. Thank all the stars in the sky for Ashley Francis!! She will be tackling these little guys this afternoon.

PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD STOP DUMPING YOUR DOGS!!!!

Im not sure if this is a breeder dump or maybe just a hoarding situation or possibly some elderly person who passed away and their family "took care" of their pets.... 😠 Be sure you have a plan for your babies when you can no longer care for them. This happens more than you think‼️

These 8 will need lots of care. Grooming is just the start. Shots, deworm, flea tick meds, etc., plus spay/neuter for all 8. And pray for 8 negative heartworm tests!! As always, we would sure love some help with this unexpected "surprise" this morning. 🙄

Just for 💩 and giggles, if anyone is missing these pups please do contact us. Or if anyone happens to know where they might have come from.

PLEASE STOP DUMPING. PLEASE. WE ARE FULL AND WE ARE TIRED.
