Gardening at its finest

What an amazing week for working in the garden! The dogs helped me yesterday too. I was able to finally get a hose to my garden so this year is looking very promising for plants.

Guinea Hens should be arriving this week to help with tick control again. So far this year we have so many less ticks it’s been great. The 50 we had last year really helped take care of the issues we had. The next batch of 50 should be here Friday!

If you have never tried eating guinea hen I strong recommend you do! They are around 4lbs and the taste is like a deep flavored chicken dish. They are delicious and have dark meat on their legs.

Please take a moment to ready about the Cotswolds. We used to raise this breed. Absolutely friend sheep and the nice curly locks were wonderful for crafts.

We decided to keep our Clun Forest sheep which are also on the critical list. We needed to dedicate more time to only one breed. Maybe in a few year after we have better infrastructure, we can add the Cotswold breed again.

Please consider them when researching your breeds.

An important update for heritage breed conservation: Cotswold sheep are now listed as Critical on the Conservation Priority List.
