SAVETHISLIFE.COM MICROCHIPS NOT WORKING. FROM MY VET PLEASE READ BELOW AND CHECK YOUR INFO TO SEE WHAT MICROCHIP YOUR DOG HAS.
Your Pet's Microchip may not be working!
For the past 12 years, Tampa Veterinary Hospital has proudly offered the Save This Life microchip for our patients. We have recently been informed by the exclusive distributor of the Save This Life microchip that they have issued a Stop Sale on these chips due to what they describe as 'reported service issues with their pet registry database and business operations'. You are receiving this message because our records show that one or more of your pets received a microchip through TVH, or had a chip registered with Save This Life.
We attempted to contact the company, but we are unable to get through on the phone number that we've used for years. Attempting to use their reunite service on their website with a valid microchip number generated an error. So, as it stands right now- if your pet has a Save This Life microchip- that is not registered with another registry- your pet's microchip number is not going to help them get back home. When your pet's microchip was implanted, we provide the microchip number, and your contact information only to Save This Life. If you have registered your chip with another registry, there is nothing you need to do. We always recommend checking with your registry every year to ensure your contact information is correct and up-to-date.
What can you do to protect your pet in case they go missing?
There are several options- both free, and paid options. Since the Save This Life chip is a universal chip, it may be registered with a variety of services.
You may register your microchip with Free Pet Chip Registry: www.freepetchipregistry.com
Home Again- one of the pricier options at close to $30 for a lifetime registration. They have dedicated specialists to assist in the event of a lost pet: https://petregistrationandrecovery.com/
PetLink- They are offering discounted lifetime Re-registration fees of $9.99 when applying the discount code VEDCO. Visit www.petlink.net or call 877-PETLINK (738-5465).
These are just a few. For an entire list of registries, visit the website here: https://www.aaha.org/for-veterinary-professionals/microchip-search/?microchip_id=991001006348068&date=Feb%20Fri,%202025
We know this is an inconvenience, and we are sorry that one of our partners is not able to provide the services that were promised. We are hoping that this situation is temporary, and we can resume normal operations with this vendor of 12 years.
If your pet was microchipped at Tampa Vet- and you need help with the re-registration process, please give us a call or send us a message via the Otto platform.
After scanning lost pet, enter the number into the microchip registry tool to search for the manufacturer of the chip.
