⚠️ CHECK YOUR PET’S MICROCHIP REGISTRATION ⚠️

Yesterday I received yet another message from a microchip company about a dog I adopted out several years ago that had been picked up and taken to the Portland Animal Shelter.

The problem?
The family never registered the microchip in their name, so the shelter had no way to contact the owner.

PLEASE — check your pet’s microchip registration and make sure all information is current and up to date.

🐾 Microchip numbers ARE listed on all adoption and rescue medical paperwork.
🐾 Your veterinarian should also have the number in their system.
🐾 If you do not know the number, ask your vet to scan your pet and check the registration information.
🐾 If your pet’s chip is NOT registered, you can register it FREE at FreeChipRegistry.com.

A microchip ONLY works if the information attached to it is accurate and up to date.

Being a responsible pet parent means making sure that if your pet ever gets out, runs off, or becomes lost, they can be reunited with you quickly and safely.

What an amazing story we have for this little boy - I will update with the story tomorrow - but wanted to let everyone know that he is safe with our amazing person Doreen Parcell who did a quick reuinute with Leslie - but he was still trying to figure out what has happened to him the past month.

As skittish as he has been whilst running scared, he came over to Dorey's lap to catch up on some very much needed love.

Thank you to the amazing family that let their yard be taken over by Edgar, by Dorey with Leslie, byCarol, the amazing animal control officer and Karen from Maine Lost Dogs - what a team effort in getting him caught so soon after he was seen and identified.

I am sure Leslie's scent and blanket helped so not forgetting a huge thank you to our wonderful ladies today how transported him.

It puts an all new angle on the saying "WHAT A DIFFERENCE A DAY MAKES".
