Emma is a 3-year-old Australian Shepherd looking for a new home.

Emma is an incredibly smart, well-trained girl who loves her people. She is off-leash trained, eager to please, and enjoys being part of the family. She can be cautious around men at first but warms up once she gets to know them.

Unfortunately, Emma recently had a serious incident involving a small dog in her home. Because of this, her family feels she can no longer safely live with small dogs. They are seeking a home where she can be the only pet. Due to her history, a home without small children is also recommended.

This is a heartbreaking decision for her family, who love her very much and want to find the safest and most appropriate placement for her.

Meet Jojo , 2 year 40lb shepherd mix

This poor boy has had a rough 10 months. He was found as a stray and brought into the shelter. Then he was adopted out, but when his family got divorced, nobody wanted him anymore 😭 They even tried to get rid of him on Craigslist. Thank goodness the shelter saw the post and told them he had to come back.
So, there he was again… sitting in the shelter for months.

Jojo was with our partner rescue in SC for 10 days, and they only had great things to say about him 💙

He walks perfectly on a leash, loves car rides, is great with other dogs, and even does well with cats. Jojo just needs a day or two to warm up, but if you are willing to give him that time, he will be your best friend for life.

Considering everything he has been through, we understand why he doesn’t give his heart away right away — he has been disappointed too many times 💔

Jojo did great with the other dogs and was invited several times to join the play groups at the boarding facility where he stayed. Overall, he kept his kennel clean and never chewed on his bed or blankets.

If you are looking for a loyal four-legged best friend, Jojo is your boy 🐾

Meet Antoinette - the sweetest little shadow you could ask for! 1 year 15lbs

This spunky girl has truly come out of her shell since settling in with her foster family, and her fun personality shines more every day. Antoinette loves walks and gets very excited about squirrels, but she walks beautifully on a leash and enjoys exploring with her people. She’s also doing great with potty training and is wonderfully quiet in her crate.

Antoinette loves other dogs and has so much fun playing with her furry friends. She’s also a total cuddle bug who adores attention - if you stop petting her, don’t be surprised when she gently asks for more! Her favorite place is right beside her humans, and she loves making new friends wherever she goes. Truly, she loves everyone she meets.

If you’re looking for a sweet, loving companion who will happily be your best friend and constant sidekick, Antoinette may be the perfect match for you.

We are closed to the public today in observance of the holiday 🇺🇸

But we couldn’t let the day go by without giving handsome Rhodes another chance to be seen ❤️

Rhodes is still patiently waiting for his forever home. This sweet brindle boy has been through so much and deserves a family of his own more than ever. Despite being a tri-paw, Rhodes doesn’t let anything slow him down — he loves walks, loves people, and would be happiest curled up beside his humans.

Sweet Freddy is still searching for his furever home 💔

Since arriving here, only one potential adopter has come to meet him. Unfortunately, it just wasn’t the right match. That doesn’t mean Freddy isn’t an amazing dog — it just means his people haven’t found him yet.

Freddy may not always show his best self in the kennel, but once you spend time with him, you see the sweet, loving dog he truly is. After spending two years waiting in a shelter in South Carolina, we were so hopeful his family would find him quickly once he made his way north.

Please help us share Freddy’s story. His forever home has to be out there somewhere 🐾

Meet Freddy! 🐾

Freddy is a 3½-year-old mixed breed from South Carolina, weighing about 50 lbs. He spent 2 years sitting in an overcrowded shelter, simply overlooked for being “just another dog.” Thankfully, one of our rescue partners stepped in, pulled him to safety, and got him into foster care — where he’s been thriving.

Here’s what his foster mom had to say about him:

Freddy is an absolute dream. He is loving, playful, and smart. He gets along well with other dogs and has done well in a home with a cat for the past 3 weeks, despite being told he may not like cats. He is house-trained, crate-trained, and very treat motivated. Freddy loves being close to his people, but he can also settle nicely on his own. He has even been left out of his crate at night and did wonderfully — no chewing, no getting into things, just a very good boy. His foster mom says he will make an excellent addition to just about any family.

Freddy is ready for his fresh start and a family of his very own. Come meet this wonderful boy and see for yourself just how special he is.

We’re excited to welcome Carmen Klapper and Tracy from Carmen’s Rescue in South Carolina — a rescue partner who has helped save countless dogs alongside us since 2010.

All dogs adopted from Dog Orphans are welcome to stop by and say hi — not just the dogs from Carmen’s Rescue! We would love to see our former orphans again 🐶
