More exciting news regarding our herd!

I was notified by TNR Nigerians that some parents of our bucks received some amazing LA scores a few days ago!

CH Old Mountain Farm Chevalier is the sire of, Gabhran Creek EZ Money, one of our most influential senior herdsires. Chevalier scored a VEE 91!

Each of the parents of our new junior herdsire, TNR AE Kilt Lifter’s, parents also received great scores. His sire, Old Mountain Farm August Elk, scored a VVE 88. His dam, Dill’s TS Sassy Pants 3*M, scored an EEEV 91!

I am so happy to hear about these scores, especially because some of these animals are getting up there in age and are still scoring very well!

Congratulations to TNR Farm and thank you for keeping me updated on these guys!

You all are probably sick of hearing me gush over this doe, but I thought it would be cool to see all three of Feyre’s “ribbon pictures” side by side.

Her first leg was when she was just a baby and in all of the excitement of her win we forgot to get a nice picture of her with her rosette, thankfully mom snapped a candid picture of us waiting to sign papers lol

I love looking at these pictures and seeing how this doe has aged like fine wine, words cannot express how proud I am of her.

Once ADGA officially recognizes her as a permanent champion Feyre will be retired from the show ring and that is very bittersweet for me to think about, because of how much fun I have had over the years showing her.

Yes, I know she could compete in a champion challenge class, but I think she has earned show retirement. She HATES having a show filled udder, so I believe she would be happy to never step foot into a ring again lol.

We will leave the showing to her kids and herdmates for now.

It was a busy and very competitive weekend at the NoDak Dairy Goat Show!

Two of our ladies still managed to bring us home some rosettes though!

Star Valley’s Feyre Crursbreakr got Grand Champion and Best of Breed in her last ring, earning her THIRD GCH leg!!! She is now a pending permanent champion!!! Our first ever! The fact that she is a homebred doe makes this win even sweeter! I am extremely proud of this gorgeous little doe, she really is just amazing.

Star Valley’s Roxy also brought home a Champion win, despite the fact that I had to drag her around the ring half of the time😅
To say I was surprised when she got first place and then went on to win grand, would be an understatement!

The other 15 of the goats we brought along did good, despite this being a very competitive Nigerian show and I am happy with their placements. I remember a few off the top of my head that I’ll list below but most of them, admittedly, I can’t recall.

Star Valley’s Mary Lou - 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place

Star Valley’s California Girl - 2nd & 3rd

Star Valley’s Mary Poppins - 1st

Star Valley’s Entr Sandman - 1st and Jr Ch in all three rings

TNR AE Kilt Lifter *B - 2nd in all rings

Star Valley’s Dirty Bird - 1st, 1st & 2nd

Star Valley’s Dirty Copper - 1st and Jr Champ in the MDGA show

Our Mini Nubian does, unfortunately, decided to stop drinking water Saturday night so they did not make milk for the Sunday morning show, so they placed near the back of both of their classes this morning.

3 down, 12 more to go🫠

Starting to rethink this whole “take 15 goats to the show” thing. Especially since I was dumb enough to begin clipping four days before we leave 🫣

I am pretty sure I have decided on who will be bred this fall and what bucks will be used, so I figured I would make a post with all of our Nigerian breedings planned for this year.

These are still subject to change, however I don’t foresee much changing. Trouble may have to remain open for another season, as she is still recovering from a shoulder injury, but I am hopeful she will be back to herself by October 🤞🏼
Other than that these plans likely will not change.

Please reach out if you would like to place a reservation on any of these breedings, most of them still have spots open!

Herd reduction!

Our herd is still in the process of a reduction. None of the does we are parting with are bad does, they are all very nice and it has been very hard to decide who stays and who goes. In an effort to get numbers down we are running “deals”.

I have decided to offer each of these does up, but will expose them to any of our bucks you choose! (Provided they aren’t too closely related)

Our bucks are listed here:
https://starvalleycritters.weebly.com/bucks.html

The only stipulation is that the doe must be paid for IN FULL and a pickup date must be set before I will breed her. I am parting with so many does because of how high the workload was this year, so I have no intention of adding to that work load in the spring. If nobody buys them these does will simply stay open next season, this is why full payment must be made before breeding.

**Full payment of these does will be NON REFUNDABLE upon them being exposed to a buck**

(Details about each doe is in the caption of her photo)

Please contact me with any questions and more details.

We are excited to announce our new herdsire!

TNR AE Kilt Lifter

Sire: Old Mountain Farm August Elk

Sire’s Sire: SG Old Mountain Farm Bold Elk +EE86
Sire’s Dam: Old Mountain Farm Octavia Quinn 1*M EEEE91

Dam: Dill’s TS Sassy Pants 3*M VEEE90

Dams sire: Dill’s D Two-step
Dams dam: Dill’s XM Pantastic VEEE 89

I am very excited about this little guy and his potential as a herdsire, he is absolutely gorgeous and has lots of high quality animals behind him. I also think his lines will bled amazingly with my existing lines because he is related to both Dill’s D Two-step and Old Mountain Farm Tomo Quinn, which are two animals that are in the lines of almost all of my current stock.

The pictures don’t do him justice as he is pretty unsure about the new place, but when I get better pictures of him I can hopefully showcase how nice he really is.

We sent two kids of to their new home all the way in Iowa today!

I’m very excited for the things they will accomplish in their new herd and hope they live up to their potential for their new owners. Both of these kids are related to Dill’s SH Happy New Year. One is a son and the other a granddaughter, their owner actually sought us out because if how much she loved Happy, so it was a pleasant surprises when she contacted me. I think these two will be great additions for her herd!

Star Valley’s Dirty Lil Secret

I got some nice clipped pictures of this girl’s udder today and I am extremely impressed with this little first freshener💕

She has a buck kid still available if anyone is looking for a cheap herdsire with some stellar udders behind him!

I am very excited to see this girl mature, and I hope we can get her in the ring this summer!

These ladies are two maternal half sisters I have bred and raised here.

They paint a really interesting picture of how much a sire can influence the structure of offspring in one generation.

Both of these girls are improvements from their dam, but in different ways. Both of them are nice, but really are a good representation of what each of their sire’s brings to my herd.

Bell’s sire, Deeds, brings overall width and depth, as well as lots of strength and capacity.

Jenny’s sire, EZ, brings length of body, level toplines, high and tight shoulders and overall femininity and “dairyness”.

These two sires are the backbone of my breeding program and their lines have proven to mesh very nicely. I cannot wait to see what the udders on the doe kids from these crosses look like.
