Congratulations to Rylea Templin and Divine Taste aka Rubin! They captured the Young Hunter 5&under championship at Kentucky Horse Park this week!
Wednesday morning got off to a great start for Rylea as she piloted Divine Equine LLC’s Rubin to a score of 83 in the 2’9” Young Hunter division and, as a result, took the victory in the the Young Hunter 5&U division on Thursday.
“It’s a first-year horse that we bought last fall,” Templin of Double Oak, TX, said of Divine Taste, a 5-year-old Westphalian gelding by Dia Corrado. “We’ve been bringing him along all year. He shows with me in the Young Hunters and with Juniors and professionals every chance we get. Most recently we’ve shown alongside Windswept Farm and Paramount Farm. Partnering with other show barns gives us the opportunity to show case our young horses at these venues while building our business.”
When she first tried the horse, what initially stood out to her was his style and jumping ability. “He’s beautiful for one, and he’s so scopey and has a beautiful jump.”
The Young Hunters division allows Templin to show off her amazing skill in the training and showing of young horses. She’s trained him the past nine months under the watchful eye of Natalee Haggan at MTM Farm in Flower Mound, Tx.
Templin spends the majority of her summer season in cooler venues, such as shows in TN, KY and for the past five years in MI. This is her first year showing as an amateur and staying a little closer to home. “We’ve had a blast,” she shared. “This is our favorite horse show of the year. My family and I spend our summers showing and there’s no better way to spend the hot summer months then as far north as possible. We just love every day of it. We feel so fortunate to be able to show here. It’s beautiful weather and great management, and our horses love it here. We’ve had a lot of success this year and can’t wait to come back next year.”
Rylea is busy with her college classes she takes from Midway University, KY having finished high school last fall moving right into college immediately following her December graduation. She will continue her sophomore year this fall, all while keeping her young prospects in top performance shape and bringing young performers to the market. “Our market plan is to help more families find the perfect fit for their riders and within budget.”
Look for Rylea this fall and see what she’s bringing along next.
