Regular dental cleanings can keep your dog from developing health issue or requiring surgical removal of diseased teeth. Talk to your veterinarian about your dog's dental health.
February is Pet Dental Health month, a time for us to remember our pets need their teeth cared for just like the rest of us. Did you know that by time they are three years old, most dogs and cats have some level of periodontal disease? Red gums, stinky breath or yellow teeth might tip you off – or you might not notice anything. Oral disease can cause pain, infection, inflammation, and other health problems that lead to poor quality of life for your beloved pet. AAHA developed Dental Care Guidelines for Dogs and Cats to help veterinary practitioners improve the quality of life for pets through veterinary dentistry. Be sure to have your pet’s teeth cared for regularly.
