This Is How to Fix a Reactive Dog. 🐾🔥

Some of the dogs you’re about to see used to react to dogs, people, or movement.

Not bad dogs. Just untrained responses.

Reactivity happens when excitement rises and the dog hasn’t been taught how to control it.

So we start with structure. Clear commands. Clear expectations.

But structure only works with proper handling.
Leash management. Timing. Body position. Consistency. 🎯

We introduce control during higher stimulation moments so the dog learns to disengage and return to position immediately. That builds reliability.

A proper greeting is controlled. Sit. Hold position. Wait for permission.

Stopping at the curb teaches impulse control. If a dog can pause before crossing a street, they can pause before reacting. 🚦

Distance exposes gaps. If the dog holds position despite space, that indicates the behavior is conditioned, not situational.

This progress comes from repetition and correct handling. 🔁

WHY DOESN’T MY PUPPY LISTEN OUTSIDE?

What you’re seeing here doesn’t happen by chance. It happens when training follows the correct order 🧠

One of the most common mistakes is exposing puppies too early to stimulating environments without first building a proper foundation.

A young puppy doesn’t yet have the emotional maturity to handle noise, movement, people, smells and distractions all at once. When they’re not prepared, they lose focus, not because they’re stubborn, but because they’re overstimulated.

This stage is also critical for something many overlook: proper potty training and structured outings 🚪

Puppies must first learn routines, timing and controlled exposure so outdoor experiences are educational, not chaotic.

Before expecting stability in real world environments, a puppy must first develop connection with the handler, sustained attention and clear responses within structured and controlled settings 🎯

Proper socialization isn’t about taking them everywhere. It’s about guiding each experience step by step.

Real-life obedience class today… and let’s just say the dogs showed up ready to work.
Busy environment, distractions everywhere, and still focus mode activated. ⚡️

Watching a whole group move with clarity and control (while trying to ignore all the tempting smells around them) is a win on its own.
