Sometimes simple is best.
Letting the dog shine.
Like this senior girl who didn't realize she was being a supermodel, ask her and she just enjoyed a great outing, sniffing the wind in a place she had never been before.

And that is what makes a good session, when everyone involved is having a good time.

I hear it all the time:

“I would love beautiful photos with my dog… but I really don’t want to be in the pictures.”

I understand that more than you might think. I’m not particularly comfortable in front of the camera myself, and I will never pressure you into being photographed in a way that makes you uncomfortable.

But here’s the thing — your relationship with your dog deserves to be part of their story, too.

And being in a photograph doesn’t have to mean standing in front of the camera, smiling and posing.

Sometimes, all we need is a hand resting on their shoulder.
A dog leaning safely against your legs.
Your fingers tangled in their fur.
The way they tuck themselves against you because that’s their place.

We can create photographs that show the connection between you without ever showing your face.

Because years from now, you may not care that you didn’t feel “camera ready.”

You may simply be grateful to have a photograph that reminds you:

This was us.
This was how they looked at me.
This was how they fit beside me.
This was how much we loved each other. ❤️

This sweet boy may be leaving us very soon. 🤍

And knowing that made me realize there was something I absolutely didn’t want to miss—the opportunity to photograph him before he goes.

Because once he leaves, he won’t be close enough for me to simply plan a session another day. The chance to capture this version of him—his face, his expressions, his personality, and this chapter of our lives together—could be gone.

And it made me think about how often we believe we have more time.

More time before our puppy grows up.
More time before the gray starts appearing around their muzzle.
More time before they slow down.
More time to finally schedule those professional photos we’ve been meaning to have taken.

The truth is, there may never be a “perfect” time.

The perfect time is while they’re here, exactly as they are today.

That’s why I do what I do.

A professional photography session isn’t just about having a beautiful portrait of your dog. It’s about intentionally preserving the little things you love about them—the expressions you know by heart, the way they look at you, their quirks, and the relationship the two of you share.

Your phone is probably filled with hundreds of photos of your pup. But how many beautiful photographs do you have that truly capture who they are? And how many include you with them?

Don’t wait for someday to book their session.

🌊 PACIFICA, CALIFORNIA — I’M COMING BACK WITH MY CAMERA! 📷🐾

From August 28 through September 7, I’ll be in Pacifica and the Bay Area, and of course… the camera is coming with me.

I have a limited number of openings for pet photography sessions while I’m there.

Whether your dog is young, old, elegant, goofy, adventurous, shy, scruffy, enormous or tiny — I love creating photographs that capture who they really are, not just what they look like.

And with the beaches, cliffs, trails and beautiful California light as our backdrop, we have plenty to work with. ❤️

If you’ve been thinking about having professional photographs taken of your dog, this is a great opportunity. I’m based in Pennsylvania, so I don’t get to offer California sessions very often.
