At dog shows veteran classes are a fun way of acknowledging the older dogs, usually the judge will encourage all of the exhibitors and spectators to clap to honor the old dogs, and if they don’t clap anyway! The dogs love it! For Australian Cattle Dogs they become considered veterans at 7 years old, Lucille had shown in the veteran classes at a couple of specialities and the National. She will be 10 on Christmas Day! ❤️ It’s an older photoshoot but I just love the way her blue color stands out against the fall leaves.

Week 2 of Roll the Dice class at PAWZ IN TIME.
This week we did our own game. It was a combo of rally & obedience exercises all listed by number and we rolled the dice to see what exercise we would perform. If we did it correctly we got to move across our own little game board defined by hoops. Rosie did fairly well!

Dean also had to roll the dice and pick a different dog to bring this week because Calypso came into heat, so he brought Eli.

For those asking about my next planned breeding.

I’ve went back and forth a little bit with the timing for this. Clarice was due to come in heat around June. She didn’t end up coming in heat until now. I could bred her to have a mid-October litter. However, I decided I want to wait until spring. I’m still exhausted from the Zodiac litter. 🤣 Dean and I also have our wedding 9/26/26 so we are less than two months away from that. We’ve had barely any free time to plan and we still have two of the Zodiac puppies here waiting to go to their new homes. I’m tired and I think I’d like to take a little break this fall/winter and be able to focus on going to a couple shows, and spend time working with and training Ta**us and the other pups. ❤️

I’m super excited for this litter to start off 2027. My waitlist for this litter is fairly full already (and dear god I hope there aren’t 12 😅). But more info and my puppy application is available on my website www.redstartacds.com/puppies

Week 3 of Puppy Class PAWZ IN TIME, LLC / HeartSoul Dog Training!! ❤️

Ta**us had her sister Cancer tag along this week to class. Ta**us is working on her tricks. She is pretty good with “sit”, “down”, and “stand” with treat lures and we introduced two fun tricks tonight “spin” and “flat” (lay on her side). She also walked through a ladder like a pro! Cancer worked on some socialization and leash manners.

Coming to theaters on Friday, August 14, 2026!

Sure Anne Hathaway & Ewan McGregor are cool, but have you seen the true star of the show? 🤩

His character is named “Starbuck” but he’s played by Brisket a well-bred Australian Cattle Dog (bred by Hiredhand Kennels). He is owned by Kent Weinheimer. His registered name is BISS GCHG Hiredhand Smokehouse.

Fun fact: My Niki actually won best of opposite s*x to him at a regional speciality & supported entry in 2020!

Remember to do plenty of research on a breed before deciding to add one to your home. They are all cool on the big screen but make sure the traits and characteristics of a particular breed suit your lifestyle. ❤️
