This is a 2 year old filly- Maddie. She was saddled a few times last year during baby boot camp with me, but she did not get comfortable and confident with the saddle at that time. She is now here to be started under saddle. She was very reactive initially. But the second saddling she tried extremely hard to be good. She was still very nervous and could have bucked around, but I tried to help her understand that the saddle wasn't going to eat her and she could move her feet freely. This filly really tries hard and wants to be good. However when she doesn't understand she can be very reactive. So I need to try to "explain" things to her as much as I can here in the beginning. I want her to look to me in times of "trouble" and "fear" instead of being reactive.

I will be saddling her a couple times a day for short amounts of time to help her build confidence with the saddle, stay tuned for progression videos!

Come with me on a c**t starting journey. Joe has been a fun mule, very lazy and a little concerned about things on the ground. But overall very kind and wanting to please. Here is a progression from first saddling to first ride in the big arena. It took about 8-10 rides until the last video. All of the rides were fairly short, but each a little longer than the last. I love that Joe loves people, but he had never been saddled or rode before he came into my training program. He has been here for about 5 weeks and I'm very excited to continue with him the next 2 months!

Another progresson video in just 3 rides!!
Winnie is now 10-11 yrs old and she had a tough start under saddle a few years ago (about 10 rides in which she had become pretty worried about things and began "running away" after about ride 5). She has been sitting since then. I am now giving her a chance through my program to see if she can be a great trail mule.
I so far am very impressed with her progress after being here 30 days and that these first 3 rides are meaning so much to her. I love seeing the changes every ride and feeling her become more comfortable and free with her feet.

Finally!! My first ride on Annie, I have waited on her since I started her mother Pepper, about 5-6 years ago. I absolutely love teaching these young animals and doing their very first ride, it is interesting how they learn to carry a person and soak on what they learned. She will progress so quickly.
