Good morning! There are a lot of grooming salons in the area. For the ones that choose to come to me, thank you very much. I greatly appreciate yāall. But this post is in support of all the groomers and just to bring awareness that we all groom differently, we all schedule differently but at the end of it our main priority is to make sure our clients get the groom they asked for and above even that, that their dogs are loved while in our care and leave happy! With that being said there are some people who donāt understand how much work physical , skill/talent and knowledge goes into to making sure all of the above happens. In my 30 year career and 9 years owning a salon I have come across a handful of clients that were either mine or came to me from another groomer that fuss about the time it takes to groom a dog. I want people to take into consideration what goes into the grooming process so that maybe some grace can be shown. We are dealing with live animals, things donāt always go as planned. Most groomers have multiple dogs booked in a block of times and they go through a rotation and process to get them groomed. There arenāt many unless you are doing mobile that start and finish one dog at a time. Although there are some dogs that go through the process smoothly there are a lot that donāt just stand there and happily give you their paw and in turn that extends the process time. Even the ones that are very well behaved can take a while due to all the variables for example coat condition, coat density, type of cut, puppies and old dogs take extra time and patience.. coming in 10 to 15 minutes or even longer than that late for your appointment will throw a day completely off as well. Most groomers reschedule if youāre more than 10 minutes late. Also, itās not like when you go to a hair salon, the dog is not just getting a haircut. For example, if it was compared to someone going to the salon themselves, it would be like them getting their hair shampooed, their haircut, getting a manicure and a pedicure, getting a dental, getting their ears cleaned, and yes, even getting a Brazilian wax oh and letās not forget about the good olā colonoscopy (a**l glands) So take into consideration how long that would take you to get done and in the meantime, youāre not peeing on the table pooping on the table pulling your leg away from your hairstylist throwing your head around lol Thatās the reality of Dog Grooming š© there are all kinds of variables so Iām just asking yaāll to understand what goes into the day and a life of a groomer. We arenāt working a 9 to 5 shift with 2 10 minute breaks and a 30 minute lunch⦠most groomers, including myself barely even get to use the bathroom lol we skipped lunch or if we do eat something. Itās while weāre Grooming š©. And by the time we leave work, weāre halfway hunched over lol so with that being said, when the dogs are in my care, theyāre on my time schedule⦠I will not speed up because a client is in a hurry because then I would be compromising the safety and well-being of the dog that is in my care. If a client needs a dog done by a certain time then when you make the appointment, please let us know so that we can accommodate that in the scheduling. But otherwise I donāt rush on my dogs. It doesnāt matter if Iām having a bad day, if Iām not feeling well, my clients are still going to get 100% quality and care. Iām a single mom so I donāt get many sick days. I work through him. So all I ask is just to show a little bit of grace. But I really really appreciate every single one of you that have been coming to me for the last seven or eight years and the new ones who have just found me. If you read through all of this, thank you! And yāall have a great week! š¾š¾š¾ā¤ļø
