Meet Cassie 🐾

After a sad incident at her home she came to us to learn how to handle her impulses and develop her obedience (especially around small animals)

Since then, she's completely learned NOT to give in to those impulses, and will instead look to her owner before making a bad decision

Calm is a skill

When your dog isn’t able to pause, rest, relax - “wearing them out” isn’t the answer

If anything, you’re just going to increase their stamina and make the problem WORSE

As dog trainers we see this pattern a lot, and the fix is to simply give the dog the proper understanding on the art of doing nothing

Ollie was a nervous Shepherd when he came to us.

He wouldn’t get in the car for trips.

He lacked a ton of confidence.

And he needed obedience.

Since being here, we’ve worked on all the basics

But more than that, we worked on his confidence

Building a relationship that means he now enjoy going out

He doesn’t hesitate to get in the car

He can be himself and not be worried all the time

Dogs don’t come into our world prepared, and for many dogs that is a scary thing.

That that’s what we’re here for.

To give your dog the confidence they need to exist and be happy, in themselves and in the world around them.

Got a new dog?

Don’t rush them

A new environment is going to mean they need some time to adapt and get comfortable before they are able to perform the behaviors you’re expecting of them

3 days to decompress
3 weeks to learn a new structure
3 months to feel safe

That’s the 3-3-3 rule

If you rush this process, you’re going to create more problems for both you and the dog

Ones that require a total reset

Be patient, be understanding, be prepared

You’ll get there

Trust in the process 🐾

“You can’t teach an old dog new tricks” is a LIE

There’s no such thing as “too old” to train a dog…

In fact, there’s some BIG pros to training older dogs

Take Grover for example - he’s 8 years old and just finished his program with us

Did we have some lifelong habits to undo?

Absolutely 😂

BUT, being that he was older he was also a lot more mature - no puppy brain - meaning he was less interested in distractions, and had clearer focus

Don’t write them off just because they’re a little long in the tooth 🐾

Did you make the error of thinking a second dog would fix the first?

It happens…

BUT

It doesn’t have to.

Training and setting proper boundaries individually means that when the dogs are together, they aren’t adding unnecessary confusion

The easiest way to do this?

Have the dogs train separately.

Just like we do in our Board & Train programs - your dog gets individual training in an immersive and high-attention environment, to make sure they aren’t receiving any mixed signals.

Meet Lola 🐾 she’s staying with us to help overcome aggression with another dog in the house

Our methods are simple (on paper):

Build the relationship
Build the obedience
Build the confidence

Now we’ve begun reintroducing Lola back with the same dog, to get them integrated properly and safely

We’re really proud of their progress so far and can’t wait to send her home to the family with a newfound confidence & calm ❤️
