The list of the worst 101 puppy mills in the US was just released by the HSUS. We ask you to share things all of the time, we know, but this is crucial. We need to make pet parents more knowledgeable - we simply cannot support these 'businesses' anymore. Please share for all of the poor dogs who never make it out.

WHAT ARE PUPPY MILLS?

Puppy mills are commercial dog breeding facilities that typically provide only food, water and a wire-floored cage, minimal if any vet care, no exercise, and certainly no human contact or love. Dogs are bred cycle after cycle and then auctioned off, killed, or abandoned, if not relinquished to a rescue group. The best way to shut them down is to not support them - be it on the Internet, in newspaper ads, or in pet shops. Many people do not realize pet shop puppies and Internet puppies come from puppy mills.
If someone feels the need for a pure-bred dog, there are many rescues with many different breeds or some who specialize in a specific breed. Failing that, if they need to buy a dog from a breeder, insist on seeing the living conditions and upon meeting both of the parents.
