It’s with heavy hearts that we must share that one of the most important members of our team and family, Mordecai crossed the rainbow bridge last month. He got very sick, very suddenly and unexpectedly passed. It has taken time to process this tragic loss to the point of being able to speak about it. He would’ve been 11 in January and even if we would’ve been together for 50 years it wouldn’t have been enough time with him. He brought immense joy into our lives everyday, and to anyone who was lucky enough to cross paths with him. Every single person that got to meet him always followed it up with “he’s the best dog I’ve ever met!”, and I believe that’s true, he was the best dog I ever met. The only thing Mordy loved more than snow and crunching on carrots was helping us raise baby kittens. He was a gentle soul and loved nothing more than being snuggled up and climbed all over by kittens, and was the best helper at socializing all of the cats before they were adopted out into their new families. He will leave a giant hole in our hearts, and in our home. We can’t thank the rescue Free Spirit in Illinois enough for allowing us the opportunity to spend even a moment of our lives with Mordecai, the most special, goodest, sweetest boy in the world and I can only hope that that every other dog is even 25% as wonderful as he was 💜
