Just a bit of an update of how things have panned out so far.
Started seeds super early with the help of some great assistants.
The plants out grew there pots faster than the weather so I found myself marketing things much sooner than the previous year.
It didn't take long. Next thing you knew I was selling my entire greenhouse full of plants for a quarter cow and some change :)
I view that as a success!
Because we started so early and moved our product out so soon, we were able to seed just about as many flats as we did for the first grow.
Most of the plants from the second grow we planted on the farm. Along with direct seeding some pumpkin, squash, gourds, beans, and watermelon, although the watermelon didn't make it :(
We also experimented with the "Three Sisters" this season.
Corn, beans, and squash. The beans are going CRAZY, as you can see.
Overall, we have had two successful grows and other than some slugs chewing on our Brussel sprouts, our garden space is looking lush and setting a good amount of fruits!
Although I have been neglecting the greenhouse, we have many tomato plants and cucumber plants making a serious effort in there! :)
There have been some discoveries through out the season.
* Going chemical free really forces you to think outside the box
* I think I'm a believer in companion planting, such as the Three Sisters.
* I've seen new insects in the garden this year which I attribute to the variety of plants and a healthy balanced garden.
* Wick watering is amazing, efficient, and fun.
* Gardening using sustainable agriculture as your guide is the way to go!
* Some plants growing naturally here that I would have referred to as a w**d, I now call a snack! :)
