A hot but amazing first day of horse camp!
This week’s focus being gymkhana and creating a nice soft supple horse with more advanced body maneuvers. As well as horse to human anatomy and vitals.
We did a small demonstration of acid splash on an empty stomach and another with hay lining the stomach. As the week goes on they will advance this with various stomach contents and who can win by having the least amount of acid splash in their horses stomach.
After warming up we introduced counterbend to true bend on the rail first then to a circle to figure 8 next. This drill involved 4 barrels in line with last 2 being used as a figure 8 counter bend to holding a true bend next with a leg yield out. This is done correctly when the horse doesn’t turn into it tight and instead yields back out. Again we will advance as the week goes on.
Due to the heat we did dash race as the pattern next before cooling off. Horses and riders did great at the drive through and their parking spots.
Skin pinch test and ph is as follows:
Skin pinch test AM rides
