Sometimes thinner horses come into your life. What happened to them is sad. Were they abused or neglected?

What matters to me is that I can make the difference in their life. That's it. Period. I have rescued several different horses by bringing them into my barn and I have proudly brought them back from near starvation.

I was recently asked don't you worry if someone sees a horse in your barn in poor condition?

My answer is no. My barn is full of quality hay, 6 freezers filled with quality grain and alfalfa pellets, a huge mound of sawdust, clean stalls and 6 nice pastures.

They are cared for by a skilled equine professional with 40+ years in the industry as a national level, breed show judge, trainer of multiple world show champions across many different disciplines, and years of hands on equine knowledge.

Add all of that together and in a mere seven weeks a horse's life has taken a 180 degree turn. Well, in my case, many horses' lives.

Compare his photographs from January 9 to last week, and you will see that his sores have fully healed and his weight gain is substantial.

What an incredible Journey!

In preparation for the forecasted snow storm and freezing temperatures, we have taken necessary precautions. Our inventory includes recently received round bales, fresh sawdust, ample Himalayan salt to facilitate animal hydration, and fully stocked grain bins and square bale storage.

Drawing from years of experience, I emphasize the importance of preparation before the snow arrives; heed this advice, and you will appreciate it later.

《《《JOURNEY 》》》Journey, a resilient sweet soul, has demonstrated remarkable fortitude in the face of adversity and is poised for a triumphant comeback.

This 11 year old gelding arrived 2 days ago to my facility. Under my dedicated care, Journey will receive targeted support and treatment, empowering him to regain his strength and vitality. Journey's adoption will be facilitated once he has made a full recovery from his health challenges, including rain rot and malnutrition. Veterinary guidance is being closely followed to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Updates documenting Journey's story toward restored health, future training, and eventual adoption will be shared through KDS Performance Horses, LLC, chronicling his path toward a happy and healthy future in a forever home.

I will be funding his recovery but if you feel so moved, I will accept donations that will go to his care, support and spoiling.

I am so blessed that after all these years, I rarely have to advertise. Word of mouth, friends etc are the integral key to our success. If you have a solid business, you never have to advertise; your work and success will speak for itself.

Full boarding stable with no availability at this time and a waiting list that is almost a year long.

Full lesson program and training spots for 2026. Thankful for all of our support both in state and out of state.

Well, Takini's time has come to go to her forever home. She was never advertised but we had a person contact SS Horse Sales and was looking for a horse like her. Literally everything they wanted described her to a "T".

I am a little sad to see her go. But just take a look at this collage and you will see she had a wonderful transformation here. She saw the vet, got all of her shots, was wormed, had a special nutritional diet with weight building supplements, and most importantly she was loved. Thank you to everyone who followed her journey. Soon, I will be on the look out for my next rescue survivor.

Takini update (my survivor rescue horse):

Given her successful adaptation to the vet approved feed program, it is now time to introduce weight builders and supplementary vitamins & minerals. I have obtained Cool Calories and a mineral block for her stall. She continues to receive medication for Lyme disease.

Cool Calories is a supplement consisting of 99% fat and fatty acids, which functions both as a weight builder and as a promoter of healthy skin and coat. Upon arrival, her hair was dull and thicker, but modifications to her feed program have already produced notable results. I look forward to observing her continued progress with this supplement.

Establishing an effective feed program can be costly, especially for underweight horses, yet the benefits are invaluable.

While it is impossible to change the world, it is possible to change the world for one horse.

On this sweltering hot day, Takini was treated to a refreshing hose down. Almost all the horses were hosed off. The horses are benefiting from the cooling effects of fans and have the option of seeking shade in either a run-in or the barn.

Takini was photographed and weighed today, revealing a weight of 821 pounds, which is lower than the desired range. Nevertheless, I am enthusiastic about observing her development over the next few weeks and months. Takini has quickly become a beloved member of the family and exhibits a calm demeanor. In addition to her weight assessment, she was also administered a dewormer treatment today. Her hair coat is thicker and longer which doesn't look the healthiest. I'm hoping with a good nutritional program that she will gain weight and her hair coat will develop a nice shine.
