Update on baby Bree!

Taking care of a paralyzed kitten has been quite the learning curve! There have been many ups; but also many downs...incontinence issues and challenges, food sensitivities, round-the-clock care...suggestions of euthanasia...but through it all, all we've seen is a tiny little kitten; full of life, love, s***k, and fight. So we have made a resolve to keep fighting for her as long as she still has fight left! We are forever amazed at just how strong, resilient, and capable animals are. She's doing well, getting stronger everyday. Her incontinence is getting better, she has regained some movement in her back legs, mostly unintentional, but it's a good sign that nerves are healing! She gets around just fine, climbs on everything, and is definitely in her *feisty* era right now. 😂 If you ask her, she's just a normal and very playful kitten! Her favorite toy, you wonder? Her tail! Enjoy this brief video of her playing with it!

The next step in her journey is being transported to Pennsylvania! A very kind rescue has agreed to take her and we are working together to find a way to get her there, even if I have to fly her myself. Stay tuned for more updates!

💙 UPDATE: ADOPTED 💙

We have this little dude for adoption! He was found in our potty yard, vet said he's about 6 weeks old. He's just had his first round of vaccinations, flea meds, and wormer. He's playful, demanding of attention, feisty, and oh so snuggly! He also has the cutest little bobbed-tail! Let's get this guy a home before Christmas! ❤️💚 Reach out to find out how to adopt!

✨ Rescue Spotlight ✨

Dusk, the super fun, super-mutt! She's cute, she's playful, she has just the right amount of s***k, and she's available for adoption! She's been in rescue-boarding with us for a little while now; she's been in need of a home even longer. This girl is a doll! Let's get this girl a forever zoomie partner before Christmas! As always, she will come with free training when adopted locally. ✨ Rescue Spotlight ✨

Meet Britt! She's an older (about 6ish) sable German Shepherd! Pulled out of a rural animal control shelter just before her euthanasia. She's a sweet and sensitive gal that loves attention! Unfortunately, she can be dog selective. But don't let that sway you away from her! She is easily managed with a dog-savvy owner that knows how to use the training that will come with her! Awesome news; she is kid friendly from what we've seen! Has had several meet and greets with kids as young as 1 years old. She's been around our 4 kiddos, ages 5-15, several times and is just a good all around, pretty easy-going, pooch! Definitely a fan favorite up here at the shop. She's spayed and utd on vaccines! Let's get this girl a home for the holidays!! As always, if she's adopted locally, she comes with free training lessons! Bonus: she will also come with her emotional support bowl that she constantly carries around! 😁❤️

Update on baby Bree!

Today was her second electroacupuncture treatment and she's been making great progress! She is regaining movement and feeling in her legs. While she still has a long road ahead of her, little Bree is living up to her name and doing everything with a strength that we couldn't even imagine having. She's a fighter 💜

She also has an adopter! One of our trainers will be driving her to Alabama once she's finished her treatment and she is cleared to travel!

✨ RESCUE SPOTLIGHT! ✨

We have a couple long-term residents up here that we would love to see get homes for the holidays!

First up: Shine 🌟

Female GSD, spayed and utd on vetting. Shine is a goofy, independent girl with a lot of love to give! Unlike most German Shepherds, she's a bit smaller in stature; a little pocket shepherd! She requires a specific home without other animals and only older children. She's a parvo puppy survivor and almost didn't make it! Because of this, she missed out on crucial early socialization, making her sometimes a bit more unsure of the world. She's gone through training with us and she's shown nothing but neutrality around people, dogs, kids, etc. when using her obedience. As always, if we have a local adopter, we throw in 3 free training sessions to show her adopter all of the skills she knows so they can be the most successful team possible! She has been in rescue for about 2 years now, let's get this girl the home she deserves! Reach out if you're interested in a meet and greet. If you can't adopt, please share!!

Update on Bree!

For the time being, one of our trainers is taking care of her temporarily. The vet wants to give her this period to see if there is a significant improvement, we will reevaluate her quality of life and care after this period. She still cannot use her back legs and requires help using the bathroom. She does have some feeling and the tiniest of movement in each leg, so we are still holding out hope! With that being said she's still a very lively little kitten, and her injury doesn't seem to get her down much! She moves around just fine, is playful, and is very demanding of attention! 💜

Tomorrow we start her acupuncture treatment; trying our best to give her the best chance to be able to regain function in her legs!

Hey DeRidder Dog Training friends! We need some help! We have a little kitten up here we found in our potty yard. She has special needs and cannot currently use her back legs. She had a vet visit today, and we can discuss her temporary prognosis and care with anyone who is interested. We would love to find a temporary foster or an adopter for her!

We've named her Bree which means "strength" in Irish! She weighs a mere 1 lb and still has so much life! Let us know if you can help!
