Such valuable information. We are experiencing extreme hot & humid temperatures. Please stay hyper-alert to your pets health.

🥵 IT’S HOT OUTSIDE ☀️ Here’s some tips to keep your pets safe and cool this summer! 🐱🐶

• GO FOR WALKS AT COOL TIMES 😎 Mornings and evenings when the sun isn’t fully out are ideal! You can also walk on the grass to avoid black asphalt, as it traps the most heat. Hot surfaces can cause blisters and scorched paws, so be careful!
• CHECK THE SIDEWALK BEFORE DOG WALKS 🐾 An easy way to check if it’s too hot is to place the back of your hand on the sidewalk. If you can’t keep it there for longer than 5 seconds,it’s too hot for your dog’s paws!
• DON’T LEAVE PETS IN THE CAR 🚫 Cars can quickly overheat in a matter of minutes, even with the windows cracked! Shady spots offer little protection, and often move with the sun. Leaving an animal in a hot car can be fatal, and is ILLEGAL in several states (including Kansas)!
• MAKE SURE PETS HAVE WATER & SHADE 💦 Cool water and shade will help protect your dogs against heat stroke! The best thing to do is bring your pets indoors when the sun is up and limit outdoor time.
• WATCH FOR SIGNS OF OVERHEATING 👀 If you notice any signs of heat stroke (glazed eyes, shaky legs, heaving panting or drooling, vomiting, etc.), bring them inside immediately and get them some cool water! If their condition remains unchanged or worsens, contact your vet IMMEDIATELY!
